Did your 2nd/3rd baby come faster than your first?

Expecting our 3rd child next month. I have heard of stories where the 3rd child comes super fast. DH's friend didn't even make it to the hospital and his wife delivered without him.

Was labor and deliver much shorter for 2nd and 3rd babies?

I was induced for my 2nd and everything did go much faster.

My 2nd I was induced so it wasn't necessary faster but delivery was quicker.
My 3rd it was definitely quicker - I delivered a few hours after getting to hospital
my 4th - the baby was delivered before I was admitted ( I went into labor around 7 pm got to hospital at 9ish and baby was delivered after 10)

DD#1 I was in labor for over 24 hours and it was slow going. With DD#2 I had aches and pains all night and by 7am, we got to the hospital. I had the baby via csection around 11am. Much quicker this time around.

much, much quicker for the 3rd. Almost didn't get to the hospital in time.

My 2nd was much faster than my first. I was induced both times, but the induction itself went much faster the 2nd time and she was out in less than 2 minutes of pushing, whereas with my first I pushed for 1 1/2 hours.

Both DC were quick and pretty much arrived just shy of 40w. Both were born within 10 hours of my water breaking.

They both were late but I barely made it to the hospital with #2

Child #2 was my fastest. #3 was longest.

Yes - DS 2 was faster. For DS 1, I was induced 4 days late and after 10-12 hrs, he was born after 20 minutes of pushing.

For DS 2, my water broke around 1:30 and he was born at 7:30 - about an hour and a half after they started pitocin and 10 minutes of pushing.

2nd birth was much faster and easier than the first. I'm hoping #3 continues the trend!

Second, yes.
But with my third, my uterus had quit. I was released from the hospital after a failed induction. Then I almost got sectioned when they had to induce me a week later (after due date) for low fluid. My contractions were just off. The pushing is easier (took one push).
Point is, you never know.

It took 16 hours longer for the second and I was further along.

My longest labor was with my 3rd baby and she was 6 days late while the other two were 3 days late and 5 days late.

My first was 30 hours from start to finish. The second, while not exactly "fast", went much quicker. It took like 10-11 hours. The first was 2 days late and the second was 3 weeks early.

All my friends fastest labors were their second babies. There slowest/most drawn out labors were with their third babies. My labor for my 2nd was much faster then my first but both were born at 41 weeks

1- 8 hours.. week early
2- 4 hours (induced) 39 weeks
3- 7 hours (induced) day after due date
4- 3 hours 5 days early

OMG yes for 2nd.

DS: water broke 2am, he was born 3pm - 13 hours

DD: on and off BH for a week, painful contractions started at 8pm but weren't regular. Regular cx started at 2:30am, DD was born at 4:41am. I got to the hospital at 4:28am. Two pushes, she was out. If it had been midday we would not have made it to the hospital in time.

Induced with #1, 12 hour labor. Barely made it to hospital on time with #2. I hadn't even been officially admitted yet when she was born.

Yes, #2 &3 came very quickly. Dh almost missed the birth of #2 coming home from uptown from work.
#1 was a 5 hour labor with induction.
#2 was a 2 hour labor.
#3 was born about an hour after arriving at labor & delivery.

DD1 - 12 days late (due date probably a little off) - about 19 hours
DD2 - water broke 2 days early without contractions starting. I think DD was born about 8 hours after pitocin started.
DD3 - 6 days late, 3 hours

With all 3, I wasn't dilated beforehand. I was actually at my OB 11 hours before DD3 was born and wasn't showing any signs of readiness.

#2 was much quicker than #1. I was 9 cm by the time i arrived at the hospital. i am pretty nervous that with #3 i won't make it in time.

Most definitely. I was in L&D for 6 minutes with #3. It was insanity.

#1- 7 hours start to finish. 40 min of pushing

#2- 4 hours, 1 minute of pushing

#3- 4 hours, 3 minutes of pushing (he would have come a lot sooner if they broke my water sooner but they were short staffed and waiting on a doctor to come in).

**all 3 were 2 weeks early on the dot!

While db's one and two were on time and 10 days early, respectively, both three and four were late and I was induced.
