DS is allergic to Peanuts (Level 4 out of 6), egg whites (4 out of 6, but actually has no reaction ) and egg yolk (2 out of 6, has no reaction).
Do your other children have allergies as well?
When the twins are born do I just request an allergy panel done before we even start solids/foods? Or do I act like I know nothing and start from scratch?

My DS is allergic to sesames and may be allergic to peanuts. He also had an allergic reaction to peas and lentils in the past, but now he seems to have grown out of them. We had my daughter tested before she even tried these foods. She is not allergic to them. I would consult with your allergist before you try the foods your DS is allergic to with your twins. Allergies do run in families.

DS is 6/6 to peanuts and 5/6 to egg whites, and 4/6 to egg yolk. He's also not as severely allergic to a bunch of other things. DD has no food allergies at all. They are twins.
I am concerned about #3 as well though, I have the same question as you - should I just get her tested? We don't keep any peanut or egg products in the house, so how would I even know?

I've been told that food allergies are not hereditary. Only one of my DC has food allergies, and they are completely different than mine and DH has no food allergies.

The RAST allergy panel results are on a scale of 0-6 with 6 being the most severe.

The reason I don't want to just get them tested is because even though DS has allergies to egg whites and yolks he has never had a reaction. So his allergist has said to just not make him an egg but he is safe to have products with egg as an ingredient.
I would hate to have the twins tested and then limit them with what they can or can't have if their allergy won't actually compromise them. KWIM?

After DS had a reaction to peanut butter we were sent for a bloodtest. The results came back with severity of the allergy. Level 1 is barely allergic Level 6 is severely allergic.
They can also obtain levels by doing a scratch test, but the ped. allergist told us bloodwork is much more accurate.
