Did you cry when your DC was born?

My cousin just had a baby on Friday (yay!) and we were talking and we had the exact same situation...during our pregnancies, we would watch the Baby Story, etc. over and over again and bawl our eyes out each time, but during our actual moment, neither of us cried!

That was my experience with DD#1, with DD#2 I did cry. Chat Icon I think because I couldn't believe I was so lucky to have 2 girls...my dream come true!

ETA...that and I was so doped up and operating on like no sleep...I probably didn't know what was going on the first time! Chat Icon

I didn't but DH cried like a baby. He did the same thing at our wedding. He's a mush. I did cry during A Babu Story though....strange.

Re: Did you cry when your DC was born?

Nope, I was excited but not crying.

I almost cried when I had not seen my babies for over 8 hours after they were born, but I think that was more hormones. They brought them into me shortly afterwards.

Re: Did you cry when your DC was born?

I did not cry but felt it was so surreal. I could not believe I had a baby. Like in a dream!

I had hoped all my life to be able to find the right partner/DH. So we met, wed and I got PG, it was unbelievable. We both did not know if we would a child in our life. When I heard him scream, I had butterfly in my stomach.

I think I was in a "daze" for 2 days. Then I woke up to reality with the sleep deprivation. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Did you cry when your DC was born?

I was too drugged up, lol.

I'm not an emotional person I don't think I would have cried even if I wasn't drugged... guess we'll find out if I ever have a natural birth!

Re: Did you cry when your DC was born?

At that moment, no. I was still very scared because my BP dropped from the spinal and b/c I was informed fairly quickly that my baby had low blood sugar. I was trying to hear him cry because I was told that was a good sign. He was crying but it was not loud b/c of his blood sugar. What is interesting is that his APGAR scores were pretty good even though it was a little touch and go.

I had an emergency c-section and I still cried when the Dr told us the sex and I saw the baby for the first time! It was such an amazing feeling.

I didn't cry -- I think I was in total shock that I had finally pushed the little bugger out! I just remember being absolutely in awe and amazed -- it was surreal. DH was jumping up and down.

Re: Did you cry when your DC was born?

No not initally but when I saw her for the first time after she got washed up and saw she had an IV due to a fever she developed I teared up at the thought of my poor baby getting stuck.
