devastated about my follies- update at bottom
So I went for bw and sono today. I have FOUR frickin follies. I had 3 on 50 mg of clomid. I am beyond devastated, I cannot tell you. I have a 14.5, 10.5, 9 and a 6. Any hopeful stories appreciated. I am having a hard time remaining positive. I have done 4 days of stims. The PA there was a total beyotch to me too. I broke down crying and she said "well just keep stimming" and walked away.

I am on 4 menopur per night. Is there any way they will add any other meds to this given its a Saturday? This is my ivf cycle, I am just so upset. I feel like I could have gotten this with clomid and saved myself from tons of injections in my stomach. I really am having a hard time re-grouping from this.

the reason I asked is b/c it almost sounds like you have a lead follicle....so I was wondering if you were on bcp's before you stimmed...
unfortunately, stims is all trial and error...you never know how someone will respond

Thanks praying so hard you are right.  I am just feeling so low and hopeless right now. I am trying to get some sort of positive attitude back.

I'm sorry, but it's only four days...most people stim for 10 days and follies grow approx. 2mm per day...you have a very good chance here.
Also, the first IVF cycle is always sort of trial and error - there is no way to know in advance how it's going to turn out. There are many people who only get 4 eggs during an IVF cycle, it's not unheard of and they definitely won't cancel.

Honestly, I almost feel like I want to stop and just trigger and IUI. I feel like ok trial and error, if this isn't working can I skip the 6 more days of shots, retrieval, transfer PIO and guaranteed BFN. Seriously if all that is waiting for me in 3 weeks is a BFN I'll just stop injecting myself in the stomach every night now.

I think you need to speak directly to your RE about this. 4 is a low response but that number could change. There have been some ladies on here that got low numbers their first IVF and went on to have better response the second time. It is a bit of trial and error the first time.

I only had two and then four and finally ended up with six, but it took a long time. I was on stims for 12 days...hang in there...they will grow. I think some people are just slower than others.

Absolutley, 4 days of stimming is not a long time. My first IVF I stimmed for 11 days, my 2nd I stimmed for 9 which I believe is about average.
As PP's have said, the first time around is trial and error.

Please try not to get too down...
It's only 4 days - lots can happen very quickly! I only stimmed for 7 days, but that was pretty short - and after about day 4 things picked up pretty quickly.
Try to hang in there and try to keep positive..I agree with all of the ladies who have much more experience than me - the first cycle is probably a lot of trial and error...just try to keep thinking good thoughts...

first its only day four. I have stimmed for 12-14 days and things change. I would continue stimming and in the end if you want convert to IUI.
You are only on menopur,? usually with IVF you are on 2 types of gonadotropins

hey there, I was in the same boat as you the start of this cycle. I had only 4 on my first monitoring day. I was thinking of canceling also. Which is a very hard decision to make, I know. But, after 3 more days it completely changed. In fact the rt side was the dominant with 3 of the 4. By time of ER the right side only had 2 and left side had 5. So, you cannot tell this early. But, I did talk to RE and NP and they both encouraged me to stay with the meds and each time they went slower with the sono for me. Each time it got better to where I was feeling good about it. There is no way of telling whats really going on. I say keep going and it you see 1 or 2 more then to go for it. That was what I kept telling myself. KUP.

4 days of stimming and you have 4 follies! That is great! You want to be steady and few! If you have too many follies, you will over-stim and be in a ton of pain! You don't want to wind up in the hospital for over-stimming!
Slow and Steady is how you win the race!

UPDATE- Thanks for all of the words of support. I was in a bad place yesterday but am feeling better about things today. Another nurse called me around noon yesterday to let me know that he wanted me to continue with the 4 menopur and add the garnerlix tonight. I was still sobbing when she called. I guess she called my RE right away to tell him how upset I was. The other woman didn't even bother to mention it I will definitely bring her up at my next appointment. Anyway, Dr. K called me from his cell and said to hang in there that its still early.He said worst case we can convert to IUI if i only have 3 follies (I guess he is thinking the big one will be overripe). The thing is I decided I do NOT want to do that. We did 3 IUIs and they didn't work. Even if I only have the 3 I want to go for it. May be the quality will be really good and I will get my baby. I have come this far, I would rather go for it and have a chance with our male factor I feel like IUI is no chance. I think he will let me go all the way with IVF. GROW FOLLIES GROW!!!!!!

It is so easy to lose heart over every little step. DH finally said "you can't live and die with every doctor's visit" and he is right. This cycle I thought I was going to get 6 -7 eggs but they ended up retrieving 14!
I know it is hard but 4 days of stimming is not enough time to make any decisions.
