Damp Bathroom

We don't have a vent fan in our full bathroom; and its a condo so we can't install one either. There is one window in the shower that we keep open at least an inch pretty much all the time.

We cannot for the life of us get the damp smell out of there! Especially this time of year when its becoming so humid. Any ideas? (I clean every week and there is no mold growing)

Re: Damp Bathroom

I use damp rid in my bathrooms. I have internal bathrooms. They have fans but still get the damp smell. I put damp rid in both of them and it really helps. I can always tell when it's time to refill it.

Can you put a small fan (even a clip on fan) in there to circulate the air better?

How about a small dehumidifier?

Re: Damp Bathroom

I have the same problem in my co-op.

My window is over the toilet though, so it is difficult for me to open & close, so I don't usually do it if DH is sleeping & can't help me. We don't leave it open b/c it is on the 1st floor *& DH is apparently frightned of very skiny burglars. Chat Icon

I use damp rid. It helps a little.

I like the idea of a small de-humidifier. I didn't know they came that small. It still wouldn't fit in my bathroom, but it might work is other damp places.

May you could put in one of those window fans just to suck out the humidity - you can set them to intake or outtake (if you window is not in your shower that is)

We have a small ceiling fan with a light @ Lowes for our bathroom. Just bought it last night so super has to install it.

This way you can run it while you are getting dressed and the air will move and help your towels dry.

This is an option.

I can't find the one I got last night but it wood and has a nice light on it.

I also bought a kit so the super can hook it up to the light switch on the wall to control the speeds.
