Dairy barn ? for those who go there

I have never been to a Dairy Barn. What do you get, do you like going, is it convenient if you have a child in the car to get certain things there?

Re: Dairy barn ? for those who go there

I usually only stop there for milk, if it's all I need and I have DD in the car.

Their ice tea is like crack to me! I love going there for that...and if I need to just do a quick stop.

I've only been there a couple times for things like Entermann's cakes on the way to someone's house.

I will do a quick stop (milk, oj) if the kids are in the car - like last week coming home from the ped with a sick kid...it was a lifesaver.

While they have a lot of things available, I think grocery stores are more cost effective. You pay for that convenience.

You just pull in, say what you would like. They get it and give you the cost, example; 3 dollars, and i usually tell them how much i am giving them, 'out of a 5' so they don't have to go out to grab my money and then back to get my change, they just bring item and change.

A lot of the ones were sold. The one near where we used to live was sold and I was so upset. I love their iced tea and they don't carry it anymore if they are not a "true" dairy barn.

Re: Dairy barn ? for those who go there

I pretty much only go there for iced tea, and for the occasional quart of milk. Their iced tea is the BEST!

Ah, I see. I did notice some say "Dairy Barn" and some are called "The Barn". Wasn't sure if they were all Dairy Barns. Guess not. But there are a bunch of actual Dairy Barns in Western Suffolk area.

So what do you do? Pull in and talk through a speaker, sort of like a drive thru? Tell me how it works, I like to be prepared. LOL

They come to your window, you order, they get, they tell you the total, you tell them what you are going to give (credit or cash/change) and they come back out with your stuff and change if needed!

Just pull up and the person (employee) will ask you what you'd like.
No, speaker. You talk face to face.
They open up a big sliding glass door.

I LOVE their Iced Tea and the convenience is awesome (especially with 2 kids).Chat Icon

When the employee gives you the total, tell them what you are giving "out of xxxx" and they'll ring you up and bring you the change.
If I'm using my credit/debit I say "Credit Card".

You pull up, they open the door & your order from your car window.

Conversations go like this:

"Hi. Quart of milk & half gallon of OJ"
"That'll be $x"
"out of $20"

so they can bring you your change & not have to make a second trip to the car.

Re: Dairy barn ? for those who go there

Very cool. Thanks everyone. I will be going there I am sure. It's hard to get out of the car sometimes with a child who is sleeping or who won't get back in the car seat after a trip into a store.Chat Icon

Re: Dairy barn ? for those who go there

Before I had a kid, I almost never used drive throughs. Now? I am all about the drive through. My mom always got milk, iced tea, bread and entemann's from DB. I usually just go there for milk if I have DS with me and don't want to get out of the car.
