Cycle Canceled - OHSS

I can't catch a break, I swear.

I went in for a follie check this morning with all intentions of triggering either today or tomorrow for an IUI. I had 4 nice follies on Friday, so everything was lined up. I went in this morning and now have FIFTEEN follies. I am full of fluid, estrogen is WAY too high and they say that OHSS is in my future. Cycle is canceled. What can I do to minimize OHSS symptoms? I'm already starting to feel some. Im scared bc I've heard how horrible it is

this happened to me my first injectable cycle. there was nothing that could really be done. it was very uncomfortable but that's it. i didn't have anything more than a very very mild case of OHSS at best. i think i had 10 mature follies and i dont know what my e2 was that cycle.

make sure to drink A LOT of electrolyte beverages like gatorade, and eat very small meals. it was Christmas eve and I ate a big meal and i was so bloated i couldn't tie my shoe, my DH had to do it for me. otherwise just try to take it easy. also, unless you really want to risk multiples, DO NOT BD, or at least use a condom if you do. in my case for some reason AF came very early once i stopped meds, something like 7 days after my last follistim shot. when i went in for CD3 i of course had a ton of follies left and i had to go on BCP for 3 weeks. we were able to start a new cycle after that.

Thanks - I really hope I don't get all of the horrible symptoms I've been reading about! My RE said absolutely NO sex whatsoever so that won't be happening. She told me to only drink as needed and not overdo it. Would it be different with Gatorade? I usuallky drink a lot of water, so this is going to be tough. They also want me to limit my sodium intake to 1200mg/day to limit retention.

The same exact thing happened with me last cycle. I had the IUI and all was fine... got AF 7 days later. When I went in for CD3 monitoring, they put me on BCP for 2 weeks to shrink the 6 cysts I had left. This was my first cycle after that, so I'm beyond frustrated at this point! I hope AF comes soon so we can get started again!

Make sure you follow the doctor's guidelines. OHSS is no fun - even if it is not severe. I really only drank water since I hate gatorade...

This happened to me for my first ivf cycle. I drank gatorade and that helped in the beginning when my case was mild. It got a little worse after that and I wound of going to the hospital to get fluids and get diuretic treatment. The good news is that it shouldn't last long. Also, I was allowed to start an FET cycle 2 weeks later.
