Yay or Nay?

Also- Did most of you go with "bedding sets" i.e. skirt, quilt, crib bumper etc.

Or just stick with the basics, sheets and blanket.

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

i got the whole bedding set it was very expensive.

i had all intentions of using the bumper and figured i would take it out whenever i didnt feel comfortable.

Well DD's first night in the crib i woke up 2 hours after i put her to bed looked at the video monitor and saw her head buried in the bumpers. I could not believe at 7 weeks she moved into them. that being said i took them out

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

we got the whole set. She used the skirt, sheets and breathable bumpers for a while, and then once she was old enough for me to feel comfortable, I put the bumpers in.

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

Got the whole set. Used only the crib skirt and sheet. What a waste.

BUT! I bought DD to be's entire set as well. Realized they don't sell the crib skirt without buying the set. And I really wanted it. Stupid. Waited for a sale Chat Icon

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

I would not have bought a set had it not been $39.

I have it in there for looks right now.

Once the baby comes, the only thing staying in the crib will be the sheet and breathable bumpers.

ETA: IMO, the sets are far too pricey and not worth it.

maybe i'm thinking you're not supposed to use like the puffy quilt thing that sometimes comes with bedding sets? i have no idea... i'm so clueless its frightening.

I'm only swaddling. Plan on draping any blankets over the back of the glider.

I didn't register for the set. The bumpers are unsafe to use, the curtain valance was kind of ugly, and the dust ruffle would be annoying because our crib has a drawer underneath it.

So that would mean paying $200 for a pretty quilt, a sheet, and a diaper holder. My set is annoying in that you can't buy the quilt separately, so we can't get that. But we registered for the sheets, a coordinating fleece blanket, the lamp, the mobile, some wall art, and some plush toys, all from the same line. So I'm sure our nursery will look coordinated and themed, even though we didn't register for the proper "set."

We registered for the entire set, knowing we wouldn't be using the bumpers in the crib (we got breathable ones instead) until much much later. I plan on using the quilt on the rocker in the beginning and maybe even using the bumpers as some sort of wall art if we can make that work.
I agree that it seems a waste, but getting the set was the only way to get the quilt, and we really wanted it!
we like the valances, crib sheets and skirt that comes with it, so we'll definitely use those anyway

We got the whole set. I am going to put the bumper in until DS is ready to go in the crib and then I will remove it. Right now it's just a decoration.

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

I got the entire set for all 3. Im one of those few devil moms that used the regular bumpers!
DS#1 went into his crib at 4 months, by then he could roll over and pick his own head up.. so I wasnt concerned
DS#2 went in at 6 months (yes I kept him in the bassinet WAY too long!) and I felt even more safe at that point bc I had the video monitor to chk on him.

DD is coming tomorrow and again I will use the whole set. I dont put the quilt in with them at all and the blanket I hung on the wall or draped it over the side of the crib when they werent in it.

Got the set. Use the regular bumpers in the crib. Drape the comforter over the crib front every morning for decoration purposes. I'm old fashioned and have no concern over the use of bumpers and I just love the finished look on her crib. Use the bed skirt but can't really see it as the crib slots go down pretty far.

Re: Crib Bumpers/Bedding

For DD #1, I had a full set, and we used the bumpers...she was constantly pushing her head into the sides of the crib, and I worried about her hurting herself......

But, I was a nervous wreck.

So this time, I bought seperates at PBK, and I do not have bumpers. I might end up with some breathable bumpers, if this DD is a "mover" so she doesn't get her arm stuck...but right now, we're not planning on using them.

DD #1's quilt we used as a wall hanging...I did buy a quilt this time, but it's more "cuddly" so we'll probably use it on the glider

As a mom of a 2.5 yr old, who bought the whole kit and caboodle last time-- I will not do the same this time.

IMO, you do not need the quilt and the little toddler pillow.

I plan to get bumper, crib skirt and coordinating sheets.

I got the skirt, sheets, and blanket. I only go the blanket bc the crib converts to a toddler bed and I plan on using the same skirt, curtains, decor, etc, when she is a toddler so I wanted to have the blanket.

Got the whole set and used the whole set. The blanket we used as a wall hanging and the bumper we used until Chat Icon started climbing on it. We're reusing the same set for Chat Icon when she arrives this fall.

Got the whole set. Babies probably won't be sleeping in their cribs for a few weeks, at which time I will see about pulling the bumpers off.
