I would go and not even think twice about it but that's just me. I highly doubt he is still contagious anymore and even less likely on sunday.

Same. He's already at day 9. By day 10 you are free to go anywhere. Even by day 5 you are free to go anywhere as long as your symptom free.

So enjoy your vacation.

They will be in an RV. I don't think masks are going to help. They can't wear masks when they sleep...

Being in an rv means the outdoors, which can be mask free because there is space, is a step away so masking up while inside is doable for the first few days if it makes the trip still possible and the poster more comfortable. Also an rv has more than one bed.

Yes, outdoors, except for the part where you are driving from location to location sitting right next to eachother in the RV or car that is towing the RV. Not to mention, even the largest RV is still pretty cramped, multiple beds or not....

I'm sure sleeping in a mask has been done in these past 2 years. Wouldn't surprise me.....

They should also definitely mask up while having sex.

Between days 5-10, you’re still suppose to be wearing a mask indoors when around others.

He just texted and it’s still positive. He’ll test again tomorrow.

You can test positive for months. That is why at my job they didn’t require you test until 3 months after you have Covid.

I am sure like every other virus you are contagious in the beginning.

After 5 days people come back to work at my job and none are masked.

They are suppose to wear a mask until day 10.

Everyone who has come back to my job has worn a KN95 mask until they are 10 days out. Honestly, it’s a small thing to help make sure you don’t unnecessarily expose your coworkers causing them to miss 5-10 days of work.

Rapid tests will not result in a positive test for months - only PCR tests. Rapid tests show when you are most likely to be infectious and only work when viral load is relatively high. PCR test amplify the viral dna found meaning that even trace amounts can be detected on the gel electrophoresis.

Why would you expose them if you are not contagious after the 5 days? They would have had more of a chance catching it before they went on the 5 day leave.

I wouldn’t actually mind the 5 day leave as we can work from home that entire time lol

We were allowed to do rapid tests and that is what my coworker used to do. They told her not to test for 3 months.

And free to go where you please. With her situation, he already past that.

There is nothing but opinion, speculation and misinformation on this threat. OP- I would ask your doctor and go with what he says, end of story. I know you have been through alot and I hope all works out and this is a wonderful trip for you!

I have to say though, the whole pandemic has put a new light on the medical industry, at least for me. I have heard so many differing opinions from different doctors throughout the past 2.5 years. Doctors that contradict one another or who are clearly not up to date on COVID information that is generally available and well supported by other medical professionals. I have one doctor that it is a friend of mine that I trust because she has shown time and again that she has up to date and valid information. That's why personally I would do some research, seek the advice of medical professionals, but then ultimately go with what my gut is telling me is the right thing to do.

Well it also depends how many times they amplify it, the more times, the more chance u’ll find something (something out of anything).

Couldn’t agree with u more. It’s crazy how someone gets shamed for researching. Yes, we don’t have the letters MD next to our names but that doesn’t mean we’re stupid and are incapable of researching something we’re interested in. Just like lululu said, there’s so much contradiction (and ignorance) with some of those that indeed have MD next to their names sooo…

And doctor's are not gods either They are mere mortals who make mistakes.
And it happens way more than you'd think.
And the amount of conflicting information - from doctors and scientists- on this whole thing is mind boggling

I'm on the trip so we'll see what happens! I saw him Sunday evening but wore a mask the whole time until bedtime. I haven't worn a mask around him since then. He doesn't really have symptoms anymore other than an occasional runny nose and occasional headache. We're already in Kentucky (started in North Carolina).

Just an update..... we're starting week 3 of the trip and thankfully I haven't gotten sick yet. I wear my mask whenever I'm inside, but honestly, most of the trip has been driving long hours in the RV.

If you get the chance to go - Yellowstone and the Badlands are absolutely amazing! We're in Sheboygan, WI right now (visiting his family) and will probably be home by Friday.
