Exactly and we are pushing this vaccine but still want people to mask up because, you know, it’s not working. Hence why many are hesitant to take it until it truly is working and less breakthroughs are happening.
It is working. The vaccine was intended to keep people out of the hospital and keep them from dying. If you look at the vaccine statistics of COVID hospitalized and dead, it is absolutely doing that.
We don’t have actual numbers of positive cases of vaccinated or unvaccinated. Not everyone goes to the hospital.

Right but vaccines are suppose to reduce hospitalizations and death not necessarily make it so you can’t get sick. So a mild case would mean the vaccine is effective.

Who is to say the vaccinated are not spreading to the vaccinated? My friends who got sick are married.

Oh they absolutely are. My friend who got sick got it from someone who was vaccinated her vaccinated husband got in then her young son who is unvaccinated go it also. None of them ever had COVID prior. The only one who didn't get it is someone in her household who is vaccinated but previously had COVID. I assume she was safe because she had COVID antibodies from the actual virus.

Don't most people have mild cases anyway? I mean most everyone I know who had COVID during the first wave had a mild case.

Yes, mild or asymptomatic.

Covid hospitalization # question
Some people I know have long haul symptoms. Just putting it out there. It does exist. The state has centers for excellence, that’s what they call them, for people dealing with long Covid. It’s sad that some people from the first wave are still having protracted symptoms.

Yes I have a friend who is in these studies. She also had prior multiple issues before getting Covid.

Covid hospitalization # question
If you can glean only one thing from this thread its that people are desperately trying to grasp at any holes in logic they can find to say "i told you so" to people who are taking it seriously, when really, they should be looking at all the holes and saying, i should protect myself because clearly this is beyond me.

No this is your interpretation. People were looking for data to specific question that’s not easily accessible and seems to be non existent.
And why can’t we say “I told you so” when your side has been shoving your opinions and “I told you so” down our throats for months.

Covid hospitalization # question
I’m having trouble understanding what data all of you are looking for. You want the number of children who went to the hospital for covid? Went to the hospital when? And where? Across the entire US? The world? NY? The data is available in real time?

Why do you think the data is nonexistent or not easily accessible?

they keep trying to quantify anecdotal evidence into scientific data so when that data doesn't exist they can say the govt is lying.

There’s been plenty of misleading headlines the past couple months. I like facts to back up headlines.
I want to know the number of kids who went to hospital for Covid. Not because of, let’s say a concussion, and tested positive while there. That’s all.
I just want to know if kids are getting really sick and going to the hospital FOR covid

I was very clear on what data I would like to see and what I think should be reported in the media. And it’s not anecdotal, maybe to you because it’s doesn’t fit the narrative you are strongly for.

I was watching the news and they said hospitalization of children with Covid is up.
Is there a way to find out if that’s children who went to the hospital because of Covid? Or was it children, like my sons friend, who went in for a concussion and got Covid tested (no clue why) and tested positive but was there for something else?
As school starts and masks are being discussed I’m just trying to understand what the numbers really are and if they are as scary as they sound.
You're right. I haven't seen anything that teases out the number of kids in the hospital for non-Covid and test positive for Covid. So unfortunately, we really don't know what these numbers mean. But to play devil's advocate, were the numbers teased out for ex, 4 months ago? If not, and there is a 33% increase in pediatric hospitalizations, it is still an increase of kids in the hospital that have tested positive for Covid. So to use your example, if there is a surge of kids with concussions coming into the hospital- the fact that they are testing positive for Covid makes it accurate that "hospitalization of children with Covid is up" .
But come on, that last statement is insinuating that the kids are in the hospital because of Covid, which will scare parents into giving the vaccine. No one should be scared into it. It’s worded that way for a reason. Then reports should also give the number of kids who are actually being hospitalized due to Covid in the same statement. Give everyone all the facts, let’s stop manipulating data and calling out people as non science believers for asking the right questions and looking for all the data.
Yep! In the past many children who tested positive for Covid were asymptotic. And only tested because they had exposure. I bet if you tested a bunch of healthy kids, quite a few might come up positive for Covid.
So you want only symptomatic people being tested? Go call the CDC then.

It has nothing to do with a narrative. The only narrative that people like you keep pushing is that this is not a big deal when literally the entire world is like, this is a big deal.

Please point to where that happened in this thread? Where the debate was going pretty good and was about parents who are only concerned about the welfare of their kids, who want data to help them make an educated decision on what to do for their kids.

ETA: Do they have a positive covid test prior to coming to the hospital? Are the coming to the hospital for covid symptoms and then testing positive? What are you defining as a covid symptom?

If you read my post. I know someone whose child went to the hospital for a concussion. They were also tested for Covid for some reason. Tested positive. Do they count as hospitalized with Covid? That’s why I’m questioning the headlines.

I did read your post. The hospital would know how the child’s data was being recorded.
