When someone keeps being pushed in different ways to make a decision, it’s no longer a choice.
Question...once the covid vaccine gets to be mandated for children in school, meaning it’s either the child gets vaccinated or stops attending school, do u think this child deserves an education from an educational institution like public schools, private, etc?
Wait you mean the way it is already now in NY. Where was everyone when they got rid of religious and medical Exceptions For vaccines. When tons of kids were kicked out of school cause their parents didn’t want them vaccinated so now they home school! The only ones that made an uproar where the parents it effected?!!
Do I think vaccines should be mandated I lean always more towards no but that also doesn’t mean I don’t get where the other side is coming from.
So with that said I don’t think it was already fair that kids now can’t go to school vaccinated but it was a choice their parents had and they made them. While it sucks it currently is the law (mandate not really sure if the correct term) And even if you didn’t like the choices you still had a choice you can vaccinate send your kids or don’t keep them home and homeschool them. You could move out of the state or even the country. Is it easy to do that no but it is still a choice. You may not like your options but you are still given a choice. You are not told you have to do something like you are told in other parts of the world where you really have no choice.
Most don't have a problem with other vaccines as they have been out for a long time and if I am correct, FDA approved. They know the side effects while this is all new and new problems have been coming out all the time.

Pretty much this. I am FAR from anti-vax. My DD got every vaccine on time, on schedule, no splitting up or delaying, from birth. I always looked at the Jenny McCarthy, MMR causes autism sect, like they were kooks. I even get her a flu shot every year, even though I have never had one and I'm on the fence about flu shots to be honest. But she gets it because she was in daycare and now I just continue it since she never had a bad reaction to it. But this - I'm 100% not comfortable with it- especially for a prep-pubescent child- at this point. Her risk from Covid is just way too low to make we even want to consider it.

Same here. I didn't even do the HPV as it just came out and I was like no way will I have my child as an experiment. This vaccine IS an experiment as much as people don't want to believe it is. We have never had this type of virus and we are trying it out to see if it will on THIS virus. We don't know side effects in 5 or 10 years like we do with other vaccines we give our children.

I am not trying to convince anyone that’s it’s ok to vaccinate and make it seem you are antivax cause you don’t want the covid vaccine I was asked a question how I feel and I was making a point how kids/parents already don’t get a private/public education. It makes me question if people actually realize this.
Also said I don’t think it’s right and I feel for the parents but when it comes down to it everyone has a choice and no one is being forced to do anything.
So when the time comes either I vaccinate my children homeschool them or move out of the state. I may not like any of those choices but you still get a choice.

Some things MIGHT be a choice but the choice might not be an easy one, like finding a new job, moving and finding a new school. Most people just can't get up and quit a job or move in a short period of time.

Re: Covid hospitalization # question
If you are vaccinating your children, please just be aware of the risks and keep your eyes open.
My sister's 14 year old step daughter just came home from the hospital yesterday after 5 days. She developed blood clots after receiving the COVID vaccine. She had no other risk factors for clots and the doctor said that it is a known side effect of the vaccine, but that they don't know how common it is.
She was complaining about pains in her legs. My sister is a nurse and recognized the signs and took her to the ER. She is now on blood thinners for at least 6 months.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't vaccinate your kids, just be aware of the risks and make the best choice you can. And keep an eye on them after.

Thank you. This is a HUGE fear of mine. Also, weigh the risk of a young child who develops Covid vs the risk of the vaccine. People act as if Covid is a death sentence for children with the way they talk. Look at the numbers for children's outcomes. (if you can find them that is- all you seem to hear lately is how children's hospitals are "filling up" but no color around it)

Thank you for sharing. The more experiences we hear of (as bad as that sounds as you want NO ONE to have issues) the better to make a decision for our children and to be aware of what might happen and what to do.

I agree. This really threw all of them for a loop. Thankfully she is on the mend, but it's scary to think what would have happened if my sister didn't recognize the signs. By the way, apparently her mother called her pediatrician when she first started complaining about the pains in her legs and was told it was probably just "growing pains." It wasn't until a day or two later that my sister noticed the swelling and she was complaining that the pain was worse. My sister took her straight to the ER at that point.

Both my kids have covid they are fine but the reality is there are kids who are not fine end up in the hospital and die from it. Some perfectly healthy kids. Same can be said with vaccines. The amount of adverse reactions compared to the amount of people getting are probably not to off a percentage of a child getting very sick from covid or dying.
It’s deciding which risk is worth taking so do you gamble with not getting them a vaccine and then them getting covid getting gravely ill with a chance of them dying? Or do you get them a vaccine and risk that same chance that they have an adverse reaction.
It’s not a clear cut answer IMO. Maybe I’m one of the few that actual considers there is a possibility of my children dying and not just brushing over it as ehh it probably won’t happen. I still don’t know which way I want to go with my children even though they have had it and they are fine. Who says if they get it agin they will be fine this time around??!!! But who says a vaccine won’t give them side effects.

Yes but the risk to children is even lower than to adults. That's what I am basing this on. A child has a way greater chance of dying of a host of other things. But hearing blood clots in young healthy children from the vaccine terrifies me way more. If that 14 year old had gotten Covid I bet her chances would be way better than if those blood clots weren't detected quickly by her step mom and treated by the hospital. It actually killed my BILs friend's child last month. Healthy 18 year old, dead of a blood clot. I can bet you his chances of dying of Covid itself would have been less than that.
That is what I'm basing MY decision on

(if you can find them that is- all you seem to hear lately is how children's hospitals are "filling up" but no color around it)
Both my kids have covid they are fine but the reality is there are kids who are not fine end up in the hospital and die from it. Some perfectly healthy kids. Same can be said with vaccines. The amount of adverse reactions compared to the amount of people getting are probably not to off a percentage of a child getting very sick from covid or dying.

Which I respect. It’s the constant people on each side who make it sound like their decision is right and everyone who doesn’t agree it’s crazy.
One thing I will not get behind is people Who actually don’t do their own research and take information from Memes on Facebook or videos where things aren’t even fully explain and they think it’s the truth. Drives me crazy. Also those who believe in the crazy conspiracy theories out there. Can’t get in board at all with that.

agree. I don't care what anyone else does- I respect their choice to vaccinate their child. I would hope my choice is respected as well. And yeah conspiracy theorists and other crazy nuts- I do not respect at all

Exactly and a child has died from the vaccine as well. So death from the vaccine is also a risk, it’s not just an adverse reaction. People want to point out dying of Covid but don’t point out how you can die from the vaccine. Myocarditis is a reaction and it’s popular among teenage boys. Both are low in percentage but it’s still there.
And 3 pages long and there is still no data to the questions we were originally asking. I’ll say it again, give parents the complete picture not the fear mongering data that leans towards the vaccine being safer.

They really need to work on this vaccine more.

I’m afraid the original question will never be answered. It’s a shame.
Does anyone work in a hospital in pediatrics? What are you seeing- kids coming in because of Covid OR kids coming for one thing and testing positive? Are kids filling up hospitals?

It was rushed and we are seeing that it does not work as well as they first stated it to. I don't want to hear it is better than nothing as none of my unvaccinated friends and family have gotten sick but I hear stories everyday about vaccinated people getting sick. Where are they getting it from then?

There is no shame in saying wait, this may not be working properly and going back and improving it. Rather than forcing it on everyone when it's proving to be not even that effective. How about a pause and some reworking? I'd be happy to take a vaccine that #1- works like it's supposed to And #2- has been out long enough to be proven safe
