Commuting
I moved to the south shore of Nassau and started my new commute today. It took two and half hours to get to fresh meadows in queens. I left at 6:30 am.
Please tell me this isn't the norm !!!

I know there were many traffic and train issues today. I do t think that will be the norm. I hope things are better for you tomorrow.

it took me an hour and 40 min to get to fresh meadows from glen cove road. RIDICULOUS! thank god thats not my normal commute! normal is douglaston to fresh meadows. 11 minutes!

I also recommend avoiding the southern state in the morning on any day.
Any time I've gotten on, I've been late to work.
I live on the SS Western Suffolk and usually just take Merrick Rd. all the way to the Wantagh and have no issues. I work on the NS border of Queens.
Sunrise is generally good too but there seems to be less volume on Merrick Rd.

I have a similar commute. The LIE was closed for 2 exits in Queens today. Usually takes me an hour.

Don't go by today.
It rained, plus there was something going on on the main line of the LIRR - my train was actually canceled this morning.
Plus another poster said lanes were closed on the LIE.
It won't normally be this bad.

Took me 2.5 hours to get to Queens Blvd. It isn't like this every day, probably takes an hour or so, I take the SS to the Meadowbrook to the NS. Today we took the Belt and it was terrible. Everything was terrible.
I'd still take 2.5 hours in traffic (more actually since I have to end up in the city) over the LIRR.

Today was a VERY BAD day. I live in eastern nassau. It took me an hour and 15 minutes to get to the beginning of Queens. September is always the worst!

yesterday's commute was horrific! I commute from LI to the bronx...normally 45 minutes took me 2 hours.
Hopefully today was better for you; today was the norm for me

Yesterday was horrible with the rain and back to school and train problems combined. DH goes from RVC to St Johns and it normally takes 45-60 minutes but it took double that yesterday.
Hoping today was better for you.
