Comments on Christmas Babies
Just need to vent- My due date is December 26th, and every time I tell someone (usually in response to them asking) they tell me what a horrible due date it is, always saying that the baby is going to miss out on their Birthday due to Christmas. Its getting really frustrating having people tell me this all the time!! What would they like me to do? Move my due date!? Im sure DH and I will be able to make a distinction between our Childs Birthday and Christmas!!

Wow that's really stupid and rude of them! I would rudely ask them back "Thanks for that information! Is there something you suggest I do to change this?"

Re: Comments on Christmas Babies
My birthday is December 26th, ppl all the time make comments and say things like oh that stinks, or do you get jipped on presents? Honestly it never bothered me. I celebrated just like everyone else did. December 26th is just your due date your baby might come early or late. My dd came a week and 1/2 early. Try not to let what ppl say get to you.

Comments on Christmas Babies
I was born on Dec 20th and hear this all the time. My parents always celebrated my birthday and Christmas separately. I actually like having my birthday in the winter. People are sometimes so rude with their comments.

one of my friends was due December 29th (she miscarried) and we were so excited that she was due in December. We were actually kidding around with her hoping she gave birth on Christmas because it would be double the celebration. I never understood why people make comments on what your Due date is, like you can change it! The baby may always be early or even late and you may end up having a January baby instead! I'm due Feb 11th and people are already saying that I may be late and have a Valentine's Day baby. Yes - let me make sure i keep my legs closed so the baby can stay in for another 3 days just to make you happy...

seriously? What do they want you to do?? You can't control when you're due!! Even if you thought you were timing it perfectly to avoid any holidays you can't control when you finally get pregnant. Some people are just ridicilous. Just ignore them. More things to celebrate around the holidays!

Comments on Christmas Babies
I learned while pregnant that people like to voice their opinions.
DS 1's b-day is 12/21. We recognize his birthday separately, as does our family. The hardest part is bringing him back to reality in January after getting so many presents for Christmas and his b-day spread out amongst a number of days!
We give him his b-day gift in the summer to spread it out a bit, usually an outside toy.

Re: Comments on Christmas Babies
Mine is 12/22 - which I admit kind of stinks ......I never get jipped on the gift thing, but my birthday always gets lost in the holiday madness -
But really, it is what it is - it's not like anyone has any control over it !! I'm not MAD at my Mom for havign the audacity to deliver me near Christmas !!
You just have to respond with the same type of you're an idiot I can't choose this response you give when they start in on the boy vs. girl issue ......
People don't think before they speak

My husband's birthday is New Year's Day. He totally gets the shaft when it comes to celebrating his bday. Never gets any presents (they always get lumped in with Christmas presents), never got to celebrate in school since they were always off then. I'd think a Christmas or very close to Christmas bday would be better because you'd get your own extra special attention AT Christmas!
My brother and DD are a week later (1/6 and 1/7) and they get the whole separate party / gifts, etc. It's amazing what a difference a week makes.
In any event, who cares??? DH isn't very into his bday which does make me sad because I always think of my birthday as my own special holiday and make a HUGE deal out of it every year! (Mine's often ON Easter, too... sometimes it's on passover AND easter.) It's up to YOU whether you make your child's bday special or not, no matter when it happens to be. And I'm sure you'll make it special.
People just talk to hear themselves speak. They're so stupid.

Crashing...
I can't stand those comments! If you think about it, there is something all the time! DH says his BDay was always over shadowed by fathers day and graduations and finals that he's never really had a GREAT birthday and that's in June. In April or March you have Easter, in February you have Valentine's Day, May is Mother's Day, September you have 9/11, the list goes on and on...people just don't think sometimes!!!!

You just ahve to ignore people. I don;t even comment back now.

Perfect. I would just tell people that you think it's a great Christmas present!
My dad has a late December birthday and he would never complain about what day he was brought into this world! He's here so he's happy!
PS: I heard crap about how my Fall baby won't get "fun summer toys" for his birthday. Some people comment no matter what.

Re: Comments on Christmas Babies
My brother's birthday is December 11 and mine is December 16. I remember celebrating my first birthday with my then boyfriend now husband and he wrapped my birthday gifts in Christmas paper. I freaked out on him, he learned his lesson. I do feel that sometimes it gets passed on since it is holiday season and people don't pay as much attention to it. My mother use to have us celebrate my brothers and my birthday on the same day with family. As I got older I had double the excitement and love having it around Christmas. My DS had a due date of January 31 2012, I bought my husband a Daddy 2012 shirt, was so excited to finally get pregnant after trying for 7 years... well I gave birth 6 weeks early my son was born December 22, 2011 almost a week after mine. Everyone said he was my Christmas Miracle however he was in the NICU for 41 days and I was in the hospital for Christmas and didn't get out till the 26th. The doctor came in on Christmas and said I could go home, she then looked at my chart and saw that my blood pressure was not good and I had to stay an extra day. That had to be the worst Christmas ever, nothing like spending Christmas in a hospital. Thankfully my son is doing great now and I can't wait to celebrate this holiday with him and Ill have a great birth story to tell him. He is truly my Christmas Miracle. I think anyone that has a baby around the holidays is truly lucky. Seeing the holiday through your child's eyes makes it even more amazing.

Re: Comments on Christmas Babies
Welcome to the Christmas club
My DD's birthday is Christmas Day...not the week before Christmas, not the week after, THE DAY OF CHRISTMAS as in December 25. My mom said oh i'm so sorry mine is 12/22 and I hated it. I said well at least you get a separate day. She is sharing her day. No spa party on her 13th or for her sweet 16, no drinking at a bar on her 21st, no whatever on her birthday. When people make comments about it we just say what a blessing it is and special she is that of all the days she was born that day. For us we see it as a special honor and we are not going to make it a big deal. I want her to be excited about her birthday! We do make the day special also.
We do a 1/2 birthday for her and have some special thing we do as well. FM me and I can let you know more. The plan is starting this year we will give her a few Birthday gifts, she will be 3, and then next year we'll give her the rest on her 1/2 birthday. I want to spread it out for her. Our other plan is for her to be involved in what she wants to do. We fill her room with balloons on Christmas Eve, we tie balloons to her birthday gifts, she has birthday night pj's, she wears a birthday shirt on Christmas Day instead of a holiday outfit, and so on. You can get really creative and it makes it fun.
My son's birthday is the day after the opening of Deer season so the men in my family are upset about that. I just said well i'm sorry the birth of my child is so inconvenient for you.....it's a good thing they are my child. Could you imagine how they would feel if they were yours knowing how horrible the day they were born was
