Comments about working moms...
Are there any other working moms that are sick of the "oh you went back to work" comments?

Comments about working moms...
With the exception of 2 of my friends I usually get the comments with sympathetic looks, so no. The 2 friends that lectured me incessantly about how I could stay home if I really wanted to & how it was terrible that I relied on my parents to watch my son 3x a week when it's a mother's job (back when I had my first) are now really just acquaintances.

Me Me Me!!!!
My DS is 2 years old now, but I went back to work after 10 weeks of having him and got so many rude comments it was insane!
I have a career, I actually love what I do and love working & a part of me could not wait to get back into it...not afraid or ashamed to admit it.

I'm going back in 3 weeks. Haven't gotten any comments yet...but if I did, I'd just ask them if they would like to pay my rent and health insurance if I stay home...I'm thinking that will shut them up real quick!

Re: Comments about working moms...
No one has ever DARED say that to me. Thankfully.
I really think I give off an aura of being a tough beyotch or somethign because nobody has ever questioned the fact that I didn't breastfeed, questioned that we are one and done, questioned me going back to work etc.
Yet I hear SO many people complaining about these things.
Hmmm- I must scare people!

Comments about working moms...
I have not received one "oh you work" type comments. And I have to say even if I did I wouldn't care. I am very secure with my decision to work and do not let others get to me.
I love my son and I love my job and I love the balance my life has!

Re: Comments about working moms...
I've gotten a few comments and my answer is the honest truth....I work on Wall Street and make a sick salary...it would be stupid to walk away now.
I'm confident in my decision, my son is amazing and happy and in great hands with my mom. I continue to pump and nurse him at 8 months and have a wonderful, happy household and extremely rewarding career. I have it all and I'm so fulfilled that I don't even have the time or desire to criticize others lol. Poor fools who do.

Comments about working moms...
I did get a few " oh you went back to work so soon?" meanwhile I was fortunate to have maternity leave for 6 months.. what planet do people live on? I also got as a monday morning text.. "it must be depressing to go back to work and leave "DD"".. that comment was from a SAHM -- -- somehow it seemed more spiteful than sympatetic and i am still pissed off about it!!! Whether you are thrilled to be back and work or doing it bc you dont have a choice or anywhere in between-- people should either shut the he** up or be supportive. Sheesh. Besides which, the grass is always greener!

Re: Comments about working moms...
No one has ever made any such comment to me. I am in Finance and went back to work when DS was 3 months. Most of the women I work with return to the office within 3 to 6 months, so it just is normal. Thankfully I have a flexible arrangement which means I never have to miss dr appts, school events, etc. and I have very generous vacation time. I love what I do and I worked hard to be successful at it. The balance works for me.

I am very secure with my decision to go back to work. I know that my child is in good hands with family and I trust that they would make the same decision as I would if I were home. But the comments that are real digs do get to me.
I recently had someone say to me, "I'm the type of the person that if I couldn't stay home with my kids, i'd sell my home and live in something more affordable to stay home with them" My response, was, What makes you think I can't afford to stay home? If I can provide THAT much more for my family and my daughter be cared for as if I were there, why not.

Comments about working moms...
No one has ever said that to me! And if they did, I have no guilt about working, so it wouldn't bother me in the least!
ETA I am actually guilty of saying to SAHM "oh, you don't work?"

No not like that but a cousin actually said... "if you really wanted to stay home you could".
Basically saying that I cant afford to stay home wasn't good enough.. If I want it bad enough I'd make it happen!!
I get,, cant you do "this" or "that"..
umm nooooo we dont make enough money.. hello!!! dollars and cents people!!!

Actually, now that I think about it, I can't recall anyone saying that to me either. Maybe I'm a raging b!tch too! LOL!
Or maybe it's because I've been talking about being a full time working mom since I was about 11 years old!
Although, I DID get several comments about the fact that I DID breastfeed. "Oh, you're breastfeeding? Wouldn't it be so much easier to use formula?... People could help out with the baby.... You know there is nothing wrong with formula..." F*ck off people!

I also had the breast feeding comment! It drove me mad!!! I actually had one person tell me that "breastfeeding isn't any better than formula". YEA OK! Nothing against formula, but it was always my intention to breastfeed my children.

Well I stopped breastfeeding before I went back to work, because I knew that with my job, I'd never be able to maintain a steady pumping schedule. So I switched my baby to formula after a few months. It was my master plan all along.
I'm sure that this logic could piss off all types of "advocates". Those pro-breastfeeding, pro-formula, pro-working moms, anti-working moms, etc... Someone always has something to say.
Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, shoot laser beams with your eyes, tell them to f*ck off, and go back to ignoring....

Re: Comments about working moms...
Honestly - for me, the best responses to those questions were one word 'you are getting no further explanation from me' answers ......
"Oh, you went back to work" Yes "Why?" I wanted to "But don't you want to stay home?" No "But you could stay home" I guess "But why don't you?" I don't want to "But how do you leave them every day?" I walk out the door
stuff like that ......eventually idiots stop asking b/c they realize they're not getting anything out of you

haha ditto.
But I heard the comments. I just shut them down. I made it clear from the beginning I was going back. I am not a SAHM, period. I knew it then too. I didnt cry when I came back either. Just back to work. She was well cared for, I was providing for her and we moved on.
Meh

Re: Comments about working moms...
I haven't really gotten the comments either. I stayed home for almost a year. I loved it and wouldn't trade that time for anything. However, I am 100% confident that me working FT is what is best for our family for a variety of reasosn, so I don't sweat what other people think.
Before DS started preschool, I only knew 2 SAHMs in my circle, so maybe that's why I didn't get comments. Almost everyone in my family and circle of friends has 2 working parents.

Re: Comments about working moms...
I'm a SAHM and quite honestly people make nasty comments both ways. I really feel like the kind of people who make nasty comments like that are insecure in their own decision so they need to bring you down so they can feel better about themselves.
After a while you learn to consider the source of the comment.
Don't let them get you down

Re: Comments about working moms...
I did get it once and my reply was "Me going back to work has made me a better mother, a better wife and better person as an individual"
While with DS #1 i did not want to return it was mostly due to a horrible work situation. With Ds #2 I was in a much better work situation which made coming back absolutely pleasant. I enjoy what I do and I don't fee like I'm missing out by not staying home. I give SAHM's all the credit in the world but it was not for me.
