For those whose babies will be christend in a catholic church are you waiting until after the baby is born to set all that up?

Re: christening

I am going to a meeting at the church on Feb 4th to find out all the requirements. Once that is squared away, I will set up the christening ahead of the babies birth (3/22/07)

Re: christening

We are actually in the process of joining the church near our new home. I wanted to get moving on the christening plans once we are parishoners but DH wants to wait until after the baby is born. I am going to run it by someone at the rectory to find out how certain months look. They offer baptism on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of every month - so that has to be helpful...I hope.

With DD, I planned everything for her christening after she was born--and we had it at 5 weeks! Chat Icon

This time, I wouldn't mind planning it beforehand, but I'm a bit superstitious like that and I don't think DH would agree to it.

Most likely, we'll wait until after the baby is born.

Re: christening

For my ds we waited until after he was born. For my DD we did it before she was born because the preist we love (he married me and DH) is always very busy. For this one we will be palnning early again because ourpreist travels a lot in the summer for the different groups he helps out and Army reserves he belongs to.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but does anyone know when it is too late to have a child baptised? We still haven't baptised our first and he's going to be 3 yrs old in a few months.!

We still need to join a church in our new-ish town too, which we will do soon. But we'll wait till she's here to plan something- I too am a little superstitious.

Re: christening

With Molly everything was arranged before she was born.
Now with Jason the church has to do a search after our adoption to confirm that he was not baptized yetChat Icon We don't even have his name at birth so how do they do a search?so stupid.

Same here. I took the baptism classes before she was here. They did a prayer over me and wished me well. It was really beautiful Chat Icon

When I had my daughter, they wouldnt let me schedule it before her birth.

I am going to a different church now, so I'm planning on calling them so I can arrange it. I want to have it done asap, just for personal reasons.
