CBEFM question

I dont have one yet but Im thinking of buying one. Here are my two questions:
1-I am on month #6 of TTC. Do you think its too soon for me to start thinking about using a fertility monitor?
2- I know it says to start on your first day of menstruation but can it be started lets say on your 3rd or 4th day?

Re: CBEFM question

You can start using up until Cd5 I believe. As far as it being to early I think it really is a personal choice. If you feel like it's time and you think it's going to make things easier for you than go for it.Chat Icon

Re: CBEFM question

I wish I bought mine sooner! I personally believe it is more accurate than any opk including the digital! I would always get my smiley on day 12 or 13 so Ive always figured I o'd cd 15 but it turns out with monitor I o'd cd 16 and fertility was still high on cd 17 so month after month I was cutting it short!!! So for that reason alone I would recommend it!

Re: CBEFM question

For me... after having a MC I was determined to get pregnant ASAP again. I bought the CBEFM the cycle we were allowed to start trying again. Only thing was I didn't actually get it until after CD5 so i had to wait to start using it.

We used it from the beginning. I knew I wasn't going to temp (I know me, and that would have made me nutty) and so the next best thing to me was the CBEFM. So I wanted to start using it ASAP.

To each their own.

But I don't think 6 months is too soon. I say go for it. Clearly. haha!

And I think cd5 is that latest you can start using it.

Can someone explain to me the difference between a fertility monitor and an ovulation predictor? I'm curious. Thanks!

you get more "fertile days"

You get high fertile days, and then peak fertile days. Peak is generally all you get with an OPK. Whereas with an CBEFM you get high fertility days notifications before then and I believe it also pinpoints your O day whereas a OPK, they just tell you its probably within 12-36 hours.

Re: CBEFM question

Got it.

Someone above said that they were missing ovulation using the opk and I don't want that to happen to me. I'm using the opk because I have to but because I have that knowledge it tends to dictate a schedule. We start losing steam a few days after the :) and need to take a break. Physically it's just too much for us! I hope the opk isn't off and we are stopping too soon? I doubt it because I get the :) and then 2 days later the pains I get every month around ovulation are gone.

I think next month I'm going to try every other day if this cycle doesn't work. Maybe we'll be able to go for more days that way?

The fertility monitor is something I might look into if it takes longer than 3 months. I got pregnant on the first try last pregnancy so I know after 3 tries with no success I'll start worrying myself. I know I shouldn't but I'm a worry wart!
