and what exactly does it do compared to like the opks and temping?

the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor--its much more detailed then just using an OPK. This is something you use with FMU - and it can help you track more than just the 2 days you are peaking with an LH surge--it can give you up to I think 6 fertile days, since its tracking you on a daily basis vs. just holding your urine for 4 hours and using an OPK.

For me, they are too expensive right now, but I know you can find cheaper ones on E-bay.

yeah--its DEFINITELY more money than spending $20-30 on OPKs....in the stores they are approx $199.
like katiebug said--you can find them on ebay for cheaper.

They are a bit expensive-they give you low, high and peak fertile days, whereas an OPK will give you the days you surge.
Temping is not a way to tell when you are ovulating, but more to tell you after the fact when you did, because your temps rise. HTH
