Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child
This is what I read as well.
And did CIO with both daughters
I liked this book and used CIO with my DD and it worked very very well. she is now 4.5 and a terrific sleeper since 18 mths when we used the CIO method. GL

I highly recommend Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child by Dr. Mark Weissbluth. It is a hard read, but once I got through the pertinent parts, it was tremendously helpful. He discusses all different types of sleep training-Ferber, CIO, no cry, etc. It depends on the child IMO. I tend to think 3.5 months may be early to do straight CIO, but it is up to you to decide how you want to proceed and the book really helps as it addresses sleep from Newborn-18!
We did extinction CIO at 6 months. For us, it was really the only option because DD is a drama queen and would get really hysterical if DH or I walked in to comfort her in the crib because she wanted to be picked up. She learned in 2 nights and now can soothe herself to sleep!
