Yes, we are doing it now.... DH decided to start his own law practice a few months ago and he still has not started paying himself. it's tight but we manage. We had to make some changes like taking the baby out of daycare and having my ILs watch him, we cut back on our Directv package and don't eat out as much.

We could totally on DH's salary - we did for awhile.
Mine would be a little tough- we could pay all the bills, but there wouldn't be much left after.
Whenever I think about buying a new car, I remind myself how nice it is not to have a car payment.

It wouldn't work for the long term. We would have to make some major lifestyle changes and probably even have to sell our home.

we are living on 1 income right now.. im a house wife ... we live in nj but in a nice town in monmouth county
we are comfy still take vacations and own a house... if we were both working we could save more and the 2nd salary would go to buying things we didnt need b/c the more you have the more you spend.. (i was working till 2 months ago... then quit to be a home maker)

Thankfully, we have planned decently and tried to save, save, save. So, I think we would be able to survive for 6 months on my income alone and probably almost a year on DH's.

We've been living on just my DH's income for over 5 years now. I became a SAHM 5.5 years ago. Plus we own a home in LI. We had to cut back a little after I stopped working, but we make it work.

Maybe- possibly live on DH's salary alone, but we'd have to get rid of one of the cars, cut back on EVERYTHING, kiss vacations good-bye, and let go of the "dream" of ever owning a home...

As of right now we are renting so we could live on 1 income, but when we buy we will need both incomes. In like 10 yrs we could probably get by on 1 income if we had to...

We could probably make it on DH's salary - but just the basics. We couldn't make it on only my salary at this point, although I think we could be close.

Probably. Each of us makes more individually than we were making COMBINED 5 years ago. So I know we CAN do it. Would I want to? that is an emphatic NO.

Yes. That's part of the reason we moved South. I'm planning to be a SAHM for the first year after we have our first child. Not PG yet, but thinking ahead for the near future. 
If we had stayed on LI, that would NOT have been even a remote possiblility.

I am a SAHM now.
We live on DH's salary...it pays the bills but we hardly ever have extras. We dont have 2 cars, no house, no extra fun things most times but I get to stay home with my daughter...and in the end, that means EVERYTHING to me. We struggle every day..every day is a worry...we meet the bills fine but whats left over is the problem.
If I could find work from home...it would be IDEAL!

YES! There was one time i had to get 2 jobs just to support me and my wife. And another time my wife lost her job and i held it down for both of us. Also another time was when my daughter was born and for 1 year i was supporting the family. I feel that if you plan well and make alot of sacrifices it can be done. And when worse comes to worse family and friends do help even though it hurts to ask.

Right now we are living on DH's and banking mine, but we own a condo. Right now we could survive on either salary alone...I'm not sure if we'd be able to when we buy a house...We were crunching the numbers this morning to see how things owuld be if I ever became a SAHM, and we would be OK if I continued adjunct teaching online every semester. But I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing I don't have my own retirement...
