Can we talk stretch marks?
OK...I don't even have kids and I realize this morning that I have some white ones on the underside of both girls! White means they are old, and I can do nothing about them...but still. Guess it's from a growth spurt? I emailed DH and told him thank God I'm not a nude model. Then again...those girls are blessed with body makeup and Photo Shop! I'm running to CVS to purchase some Bio Oil...and I shall slather myself in the stuff for the next million years.

Re: Can we talk stretch marks?
I have some in certain areas from a huge growth spurt I had when I was 13/14 (my mom and sis have them too... it's hereditary). I'm SO afraid of getting more when i'm pg.

I went from skinny ballerina boobs (none) to a normal weight and that must have been when it happened. I was posing in the mirror this morning in disbelief. Not a pretty sight...

To be honest, the more I learn here at a fitness magazine the more I find that SOOOO many women, even us non preggos, just have them. They go from red to white, but to be honest, I don't ever recall seeing RED marks ever...

Same with me, I have them on my butt, thighs and boobs. I hate them! And can only image what will happen when I'm pregnant!

Re: Can we talk stretch marks?
I have them on my boobs, but there are days you see them and days you dont.. right now im bfing so you cant see them. But now i have developed on my stomach b/c of pregnancy... im soo upset. Im trying vit e and coco butter and postpardum belt to help. I dont think it will make them go away but at least i hope it slows down the development of more.

Re: Can we talk stretch marks?
I never understood this--- Do you notice stretch marks when you gain alot of weight or lose it? I ask because I'd like to know if what Im looking at is a result of a gain or loss.

Yeah...I could see them in one mirror, but not the other. And yes, I ran all over the house trying to see WHICH rooms I could see them in. Keep slathering yourself. Also take zinc to strengthen your skin...something I read. Also, when you are done with the pregnancy, you can try applying Retin A to lighten them...but when they're white, there's not much you can do. And I think even if you apply Retin A, they will only ever get white, it just might happen quicker. WHILE preg, you can use Mederma. See? I know what helps, I just never knew I had them or I would have used something!

It can happen from both, esp. if the gain/loss happened fast--which I don't recall happening but it must have.

Re: Can we talk stretch marks?
I have had white ones on my hips forever.....and then a while back I gained some weight, nothing crazy, and I got red ones on my butt. They were AWFUL, it looked like a cat scratched my but. I was mortified, but oddly enough they just kind of disappeared over time

I never remember them being red... I don't think they were, do they have to be?
I was so teeny tiny up until 8th grade and then my mom says I had a huge growth spurt where I ganed like 25 lbs in a short amount of time. Happened to her, happened to my sis... o well.

Re: Can we talk stretch marks?
I got red ones on my belly when I was PG and started showing... That's when they first come in. I put so much cocoa butter on myself that I should have purchased stock in Palmers.

I have awful stretch marks from losing too much weight. My dermatologist gave me Vitamin yada yada in its oil form. It works great, they are starting to fade.

Oh, I remember seeing the red marks on me! It was when I gained a lot of weight and at first I didn't know what they were. I thought maybe some kind of infection. But when they turned white I realized what they were. Now had I realized it at the time, I may have been more motivated to lose the weight. It doesn't matter because I lost it a few years later. But it was still an eye opening experience.
BUT, I have a bunch that are just from puberty that I had even when I was thin.
