Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

I am so worried that turning the clocks back is going to make Jack who normally wakes up at 5:30 - really wake up at 4:30 for the next few days.

PLEASE
PLEASE
PLEASE tell me this is not going to happen.

Lie to me if you must.

The thought of what is to come is veryyyyyy scary!

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

I guess I won't tell you that I was worrying about getting up at 6:30 vs. 7:30 for the next few days...

Maybe you will get lucky and he will sleep.

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

I bet they sleep right through, I think wake time is a combination of hours slept PLUS the daylight, so since it's still going to be dark in the wee hours you should be ok!!!!

HA - well considering that all he had for dinner was two lollipops, a cupcake, and a piece of cake - he is still wide awake in his crib. At this rate he won't fall asleep until 4:30Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am thinking about that too. My plan if they get up early is to hold off on their AM nap an extra hour, and hopefully that will get them back on schedule.

LOL...the babies never eat candy and I let them today. Jonathan ate a ton and was running in circles like a dog chasing their tail. I was really starting to get worried that he was in sugar shock.. He won't eat food that is good for him but managed to chow down 3 lollipops today.

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

We always hold off bedtime when we turn the clocks back. I always worry that it'll be rough and it's never actually that bad. If she's up early one day, it'll always correct itself that night.

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

This is year 3 for us with daylight savings, and the last 2 years I worried about it and it didnt make the least bit of difference. So this year, Im not going to worry about it and hope for the best. THe upside to this is that tomorrow is DHs turn to get up with DS anyway Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can't tell you that for sure, but will it make you feel any better if I'm in the same boat? Elizabeth wakes at 5:30 too. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

I've never had a problem with daylight savings. I've always put DD into bed an hour later, so she woke up at an appropriate time.

HOWEVER, I had to work tonight so my MIL put DD down tonight -- EARLY (b/c she didn't take a nap) so I hope she is prepared to get up with her at 6am b/c I'm sure my DH won't!

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

We changed the clocks back last week and its been a bloody nightmare with Noah waking up earlier each day. Today he woke up at his normal time, 7.30, so hopefully this is the end of the road with him getting used to the time change.

This was worse than Jet Lag!!!

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

Thankfully he woke up at his normal time today - I'm praying that since it will be so dark in the mornings now, he will sleep a little later as the days go on. We'll see!

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

DD was up at 5:30am today instead of 6:30am, though it was still the same amount of hours of sleep b/c of the change, 5:30 was tough to swallow this morning Chat Icon She played in her crib until 6:15 though thankfully.

I wanted to put her to bed later last night to hopefully push back her wake-up time (as if I can control it Chat Icon ) but she only napped an hour yesterday so she was TIRED!

DS woke at 5:10 this morning (so really 6:10-he normally gets up b/t 6-7), he came into bed with us and hung out for over an hour though. I hope this doesnt become the norm, 5 is to earlyChat Icon We did put him to bed almost an hour later to see if that would help and it didnt

Don't know if turning the clocks back has anything to do with DS's weird eating pattern today. He is eating 2-3 ounces every 2-2 1/2 hours today. And not really sleeping. He was eating 3 - 3 1/2 ounces every 3-4 hours since Thursday. Mind you, he is only 8 days old.....

Re: Can we discuss turning the clocks back tonight

another 5:30 mommy here!!

her normal wake up time is b/w 7:30 and 8 so 5:30 was rough.

but she hardly ate any real food yesterday and had a later nap. slept good for the nap, but was wound up like the enginzer bunny at 7 when we got home.

today she had a 2 hour nap and will go to bed a little later then normal so we will see.
