Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
If someone comes to your house and knocks on the door, or rings the bell, can they look directly into your house?
With the doors we have, they could easily see everything in the house. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I got some privacy film from HD that I installed on the doors. Still lets in almost all the light, but you can't see anything. I'll post before and afters once I upload them off the camera.

nope.. which is a good & bad thing. Good because we have privacy- bad because we can not see out the door to see who is knocking...

We have a solid front door but if I leave my blinds open and you stand on my front lawn then you could see into my house through the double window.

No, that was one thing I made sure of when we picked out our door. Who knows when you'll be running around in your underwear just as someone comes to the door!

this is why I can't wait to replace our front door. Anyone can see right in. You did the right thing.

if you adjust your head to see through the parts of the glass that aren't frosted or cut you can see in. There isn't much to see the since the staircase is right there.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
No, the window is too high. I do wish that it was lower so that I could see who was at the door.
However, we don't have blinds yet and our curtains are too small so they don't close so.... people can just look in our living room anyway

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
We used to have a door that you could look right into my house through, which would drive me crazy! It was the original door from 1920 and had the boxes on it from top to bottom of just glass. The previous homeowners had a see through curtain over it, which did nothing if the lights were on. It really used to creep me out.

Actually, they can't see through our door, but they can see right into our living room bay window. I just have a scarf on that and you can see right in. I've never actually worried about it.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
The only way you can see into the house is if you are right up at the door & look into the top of the door. We have sidelights on the door but they are covered by curtains. I can't wait until we have a better door that is a little bit more private.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
No, they can't see inside at all, unless they are about seven feet tall and can see in through the top window of the front door. It's no problem for us b/c we have a peep hole on the door - so we can always see who is knocking.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
My parents house you can see right through their foyer into a part of the living room, out into the backyard, and down the canal.
It never bothered me when I was there because we were used to it. The day I got married and moved out I hear through the grapevine that my father has taken to walking around nude. He has been stuck in the position that he couldn't walk past to get to the bedroom for clothes.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
I guess so, but its that weird glass that distorts everything.... It's an oval window. But it doens't bother me at all since I have a hi-ranch and when your at the front door and look in, all you can really see is the entry stairs going up and down.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
YES, You can see right into our house...most of the door is glass! I hate it but the house is from the 20's and changing the door would take away a lot of the character of the house. We are trying to figure something out. I can't wait to see your pics!
Great idea!

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
yes you can and then DH likes to raise the shades in front so you can see right in. He likes the light. He thinks during the day the windows are darkened so no one can see in...they aren't.

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
Our door has a little beveled glass you could try to see in but you'd look at my coat rack anyway. The problem is our front window....you can see our whole kitchen ! I don't want to cover the window with curtains because of the light though.
I got caught by the kids ringing our bell to shovel last week.....i told DH he had to get the door "they already saw me" lol

Nope. We have a boring, standard door with no fancy glass or anything pretty for people to look through.

Us too . Only a small portion of our door has beveled glass. It's kinda funny seeing folks attempt to look in .

Same here. I don't understand why people have to peep in. It annoys me. I would never stick my face up to a window and peep in someones house after I rang the bell

Re: Can visitors see inside your house from your front step?
Nope... too paranoid for that. I won't even keep the blinds open after the sun goes down We have glass at the top of the door, so I can look out if someone is knocking, but they can't look in.
