Can I have ONE glass of sangria?
What do you think? I'm in my first trimester still. 10 weeks today. Tomorrow hubby and I are going out to dinner. It's a place where they have awesome sangria. Can I have a glass? I know some people drink wine and sangria IS made with wine...

I wouldn't at 10 weeks. Though it might be okay, I don't think I could live with the thought that it was my fault if something happened to the baby.

I had a glass of wine at 10 weeks at a friends wedding and baby is fine, but sangria has wine and hard liquor so itd be like have 2 servings of alcohol. Not 1. I would say no, but a glass of wine is fine imo.

At 10 weeks I wouldn't. I didn't have any alcohol until the middle of my second tri. I don't think I would feel comfortable drinking sangria at all because although its made with wine...most recipes also include brandy. I just stuck to a small glass of wine here and there.

I wouldn't do sangria, because of the liquor, but I would go ahead and have a glass of wine. But that's me personally.

wow! i am so surprised at all the no answers.
i had a 1/2 glass of wine when i was 8 weeks. IMO, it's so little, it won't affect the baby. but not everyone feels that way. it depends on what YOU are comfortable with.
i would not drink more than once or twice during the entire first tri, though. once i hit the 2nd tri, i would say i have one drink every 2-3 weeks.
ETA: okay i re-read everyone's responses, and i see that the No's are because of the liquor in the sangria. IMO there is SO much ice in a glass of Sangria that even though there is liquor it's like one glass of wine. that's JMO though.

I had half a wine spritzer at 10 weeks. I've had wine occasionally by the half a glass. I wouldn't have sangria though.

No it's not worth the risk. It effects every baby diffrently. Some come out with no effects at all buy why take the risk?? JMO

in italy, the pregnant women ( in my family ) drink red wine every night with dinner.

Well, here's my feeling on it: If you're questioning it enough to come here and ask, you probably already think the answer should be no.
Even if some people have had a glass of wine here and there, for me, it's not worth the possible risks. I don't think a glass of sangria is worth possibly harming my child.

you're totally right...I KNEW the answer would be no and I think even if the poll came out more "yes" I still wouldn't do it. I'm NOT having a glass tonight! Thanks for the honest opinions ladies....I'll wait till my 3rd trimester before another one of these polls.
