Re: bumpers? yes or no
Most crib bedding sets come with a bumper. One school of thought is, having a bumper attached cuts down on the air flow to the baby and puts the little one at an increased risk for SIDS. I have seen some Moms attach the bumper except for one side [long side] and they tie it to one of the other sides. I may do that or I will not use it at all.
Though I think that decreased air flow is a valid factor in SIDS, I have also read an article about a study done in New Zealand, regarding crib mattresses vs. SIDS. Apparently, in the study, it was found that most mattresses give off toxic gases from the outer coating which, they have found, causes SIDS. SIDS Article Food for thought to say the least. I will be getting an organic mattress that does not contain those gases.

Re: bumpers? yes or no
I'm going to be using all organic bedding and accessories...but won't be having my babies sleep in the crib for a while. I am going to have them in the co sleeper until I feel it's "safe" enough or past a certain point where I won't worry about them sleeping in their cribs.

Yes at first and once he start's moving around I will take them out like I did with my DD. Again the video monitor is useful for watching them

Re: bumpers? yes or no
Johnny is 21 months old and I have used bumpers since day 1. Never bothered me.
He moves a lot in his sleep, but I like having the soft bumpers in case he rams into the side of the crib (which he's done). He turns his head the other way so he isn't breathing into the bumper.
I feel if the baby is old enough to really move around and toss, there is really no chance of bumpers causing harm. But that is just my opinion! I also use a blanket and not everyone does..

Re: bumpers? yes or no
im so glad theres a recent post on this...although im still confused as to what i will do... with my son 10 years ago, i used them...no one told me a reason why i shouldnt...now all these things you hear, SIDS etc...i dunno if i should..i feel like the crib seems bare and uncomfortable without them, but there are a few other options im gonna look into...my best friend has breathable bumpers for her daughter..im thinking this is what i will do.

Re: bumpers? yes or no
Ryan just started going in his crib a few weeks ago at 11wks - he's a major wiggle worm and flip flopped since the day we put him in. Knowing the SIDS risk, I never ordered the bumper that came with my PBKids set but I did recently get a breathable bumper from BBB which looks cute and provides a little barrier for him (now he can't get any limbs caught in the slats).

Re: bumpers? yes or no
I have not used them at all with my DS. He is 8.5 months. I will not use them with this baby. I actually had them in my DS's crib for show the first 3 months and then as soon as I moved him from the bassinet to the crib I took them out.

Never used them. To me it wasn't worth the risk. Once DD started moving around and getting her legs/arms stuck, we got the breathable bumpers. DD has also never banged her head.

Re: bumpers? yes or no
we didnt use bumpers at first. Then when she became more mobile with rolling around and kicking her legs, her one leg got stuck inbtwn the slots. So i went and bought the breathable bumpers that way it keeps her limbs from getting stuck again, and no fear of suffucation.

Me too! DS is 6 months and moves alot! He has banged his head a few times. But when he gets too close to the bumpers he just turns his head! I feel he is strong enough and mobile enough that they dont pose a threat.

The bumper issue is not based on whether or not its organic or not, its the fear that the baby will be suffocated by the bumper if they roll into it. Thus it becomes an issue when they start rolling over when they are a few months old.

same here. I tried taking them out once, Ella kept putting her arms through the bars in her sleep and didn't understand how to pull them back out and woke up crying throughout the night. They went back in the following morning.

Re: bumpers? yes or no
I used them and never took them out. We didn't have one of the very expensive sets with the very plush bumpers, they were pretty thin and I never had a problem with DS. We will see how it goes with this baby. If I feel the need to take them out I will.
