BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
Due to shoulder dystocia and a traumatic delivery with DD, my OB has me scheduled for a section on Wednesday.
I was team green with DD and nevergot the big gender announcement because everyone was in a panic. I thought I had a son for the first 5 minutes because I was so convinced I was pregnant with a boy.
I am team green this time around, as well. I am dyyying for the big announcement this time, since I was jipped the first time.
So far, three people I have spoken to who've has sections don't remember anything because they were so drugged up.
Of course, I don't want to feel ANYTHING at all, but I want to be lucid enough to enjoy my announcement. If I don't get it this time, I will have to have another baby JUST to find out ahead of time what the gender is.
Anyway- my question is, were you lucid during your section, or do you not remember anything?

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I had an emergency c/s for DS#1 and a scheduled for DS#2. I wasn't team green and knew both were boys but my doctor said "Its a Boy" clear as day both times quite loudly. I remember both announcements. My cousin reminded the doctor before her c/s LMAO!

I was totally lucid during both my c-sections, I don't see why you wouldn't be.

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I remember every single second before, during, and after my C section. I only had a spinal so I was totally lucid during the procedure. I did get pretty sick in recovery though due to way too much morphine. I had never taken pain meds before that so the morphine wiped me out. But I remember every second and detail during my DD's birth.
ETA - I got the morphine in the recovery room for pain, I wasn't drugged up prior to that.

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
i had two scheduled cs...
1 with a spinal 1 with an EPI... I was perfectly with it both times and completely remember both "its a boy" moments.
With my second the nurse was laughing BC i kept asking what everyone's names were, I wanted to be able to address everyone by name if i had a question. We were also having full conversations and telling jokes...I remember everything.
The only people I know who say they were out of it during their cs, had been in labor for HOURS prior and were beyond exhausted.
Eta...like Kristen with my first the morphine did make me out of it, but I had ds1 at 9am and didn't feel like that until like 4pm

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
OMG... totally remember everything. It was awesome Like you I felt jipped with DS1. DS1 wound up being a crash c. Was supposed to be induced that day, but b4 they even started DS's HR dropped tramatically to the point they rushed me to the OR and put me out. I woke up so out of it, shaking, sore, etc I hardly remember a thing. I remember the nurse saying "congrats, you had a boy and his name is Mason" I was delirious. DH felt jipped too b/c he got to be with DS1 first and couldn't concentrate b/c I was still in surgery
DS2 scheduled c. We were team
too I was fine through everything. The nurses and Docs were amazing. Such a difference. I was talking to my anesthesiologist the whole time calmly. Just when I felt the pressure I knew the baby was on it's way. I remembering hearing... "Oh, this kid has l alot of hair" Then they told me it was a boy. Everyone in the OR new we didn't want to know so it was exciting. I was excited to hold him right when I got in recovery too b/c I never held DS1 at all the first day. Good luck. It will go smooth and use those anti nausea medication as much as possible. That's what the anesthesiologist is there for. You'll be fine!
ETA - I had a spinal as well and it was fine. Didn't really need too much pain meds like I did with the crash c You know to get up as soon as you can and walk around for faster recovery

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
Team
DD#1 was an emergency c-section and they had given me demoral beforehand and I don't really remember when they said " it's a girl". I was so tired from the meds that honestly all I wanted to do was sleep.
DD#2 was a scheduled section and I had a spinal and I was completely lucid this time around. We were so convinced she was a he, that when my Dr said it's a girl, we asked if he was sure.

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I was completely lucid during my csec and it was an emergency. I don't see why I would be out of it unless I had to go under general anthesia (sp)

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I had an unplanned section after 29 hours of labor. The section did not go well and I do not recall at all the gender announcement. I was so so disappointed. So much so that if I have a 2nd I will not be team green again. I'll have the sono tech write it down and do some kind of reveal with family. That way I am assured of having my moment.

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I completely remember the moments following my DD's birth. I remember specifically the doctor holding her up and saying "It's a beautiful 10 lb baby girl!" I saying over and over again "I can't believe it's a girl" and I remember them handing her to Dh and him holding her for the first time --- literally the first baby he had ever held EVER and me telling all the doctors "Isn't she the most beautiful baby you've ever seen? Seriously, like I'm not even just saying that because she's mine, she really is beautiful" and them Yessing me...
Recovery was a little fuzzy. I don't know how long I was in recovery before they came in and told me that she was having rapid breathing. I think I was there for a while, just resting.
But luckily I remember the moments after birth VERY clearly!

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
had an emerg c w #1 and scheduled for #2....with #1 i was in 14hrs of labor and when i was told about the emergency c i had a literal panic attack on the table prior to :baby girl: being born I had an epi but I like I said I was a little out of it mental state wise.....heard everything, including the announcement along with "no wonder why this kid wouldn't come out, look at the cheeks on this kid!"
with #2 which was the scheduled c.....I got the epidural but it only took on one side so in order for me not to feel anything the had to take that one out while half of me was numb and put in another one, fun.....and I think they flooded me with the next epidural/gave me something extra but I was sufficiently drugged up....when my husband came in I told him that I couldn't stay up that I was gonna fall asleep, I kept repeating it over and over and I remember be so scared that I was gonna fall asleep but I didn't heard everything including the announcement and her cries and I cried along with her just as I did with #1....fact is I remember myself saying and doing these things so although I was super drugged up, I remember everything, dont you worry so will you....good luck

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I had a scheduled c-section. I had a spinal tap since it was scheduled.
I was completely aware during the whole time. It just felt like you have anesthesia at the dentist, you feel them touching you but you don't feel. KWIM?
The only thing I regretting is hearing DS crying but I could not see him behind the shield. DH actually saw him first. I had to wait for him to be cleaned up and wrapped up and DH brought him to me. I could not hold him though. You can't move your arms.
The whole thing takes 1 hour. Baby comes in 15 minutes or so. The rest is to stich you up.
So while they were putting me back together, DH and DS were buy my side. I was surreal a bit.

I was completely aware of everything going on. Even commented to my OB, that maybe discussing her netflix que while slicing me open should wait. She laughed and continued her conversation.

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I had a planned section with an epi (spinal didn't work) and for some reason i don't remember ANYTHING from the section. I don't even remember seeing DD for the first time I wish I didn't need another section, but I do. I don't know why i felt so out of it, i guess it was just the drugs, but I def feel jipped of the entire experience

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
Completely lucId for my scheduled csection. I remember it's a boy and how I had a headache from lying flat and all I wanted was for them to finish up so I could sit up a little and really get to see DS!

Re: BTDT Scheduled C-Section moms
I had some complications b/c my blood pressure dropped after I got the spinal. I remember most of what happened even while my BP was down and I remember everything that happened after they stabilized me. If you have only a spinal, they will be checking on you & you really should not be in a fog.
