Brinkley is getting a SISTER!!!!
 
Check this gorgeous girl out, she is OURS, all OURS!!!!
Her name is Ginger, she is between two and three years old. They found her with her daughter, roaming around, abandoned. Both of them were heartworm positive but they treated her and now she's confirmed negative.  Her daughter already got adopted by another family and now it's our turn to give her a forever home. 
I spoke to her foster mom tonight, she sounds like a PERFECT match for Brinkley. Same everything. Same games they like to play, same toys, same energy, same gentle spirit and eagerness to learn.
Yes, it's a little scary adopting her without meeting her first, but I trust their judgement and bringing a girl into our household will ease the transition better than another boy.

omg! i got tears in my eyes just looking at ginger and reading about how they found her roaming with her daughter! she is gorgeous!!!! i'm so glad they both got adopted. congratulations!

I couldn't sleep last night. 
She is in Texas right now and she will board the next transport and arrive in Connecticut on Saturday the 23rd. So we have two weeks to nag the heck out of her foster mom for information and spoil her (and Brinkley) rotten by buying new stuff!
It's so funny, we have been having not-so-great luck with the adoption process because the two top dogs we liked were adopted before we got a chance to meet them. I was having trouble getting in touch with one of the coordinators about another which led us to miss meeting him, and the meetings we did have went ok, but not great.
So we went back to the drawing board, opened up our search to all colors (we were previously only looking at blacks because there were so many more of them) and Rusty and I agreed to pick the top five dogs. We wanted to go older this time, 2 years old or older.
Ginger was at the tippy top of both of our lists. The word ginger is a nickname for a redhead, and we have 12 of them in my immediate family. My nieces and nephews call each other gingers. It's one of my favorite spices. I love Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire movies.
I was on the phone with the foster mom for a long, long time. We hit it off immediately and she did a great job of describing Ginger. She sounds like she would be a great candidate for coming into the office with me, and a great companion for Brinkley. She is very loving and friendly to everyone but really does favor other dogs as companions.
We are SO excited.

It breaks my heart that she was wandering around with her daughter like that... so freakin' sad! 
Thank God they are both ok and going to loving homes now!

She is so beautiful!! I am so happy for all of you (especially Brinkly) Please keep us all posted step by step about this transition and how you are going about all of this.. Its great information.. I am so excited to go through this with you.. She is just so sweet looking in those photo's too.. 'I already know they are going to fall in love.. I can say out of experience its a little weird to split the love and attention.. I only know from when i brought Viviana home.. it was wierd for me mostly, Lola was probably fine and now she learned to live with it.. I know its a different situation but when you get them together for a while you will see what I mean.. But Brinkly seems pretty independant not as clingy as Lola.. Lola wanted to be held the same time I was holding the baby.. i actually learned how to do it ! Best of luck and MANY MANY years of happiness with this beauty too!!

Diana, thanks sweetie. Rusty and I have been talking about that separation of love and attention. I'm preparing Rusty moreso that he will no longer be #1 to Brinkley, and Ginger will be. That's the thing I see happening more than anything, he's definitely more about the other dogs than people. Although, we've only ever had playdates so who knows how that will turn out once he realizes his new sister is here to stay.
Two weeks can't come soon enough.
