I would not allow my husband to drive my child anywhere in a backless booster at the age of 2.

Seriously, car accidents are the number one cause of death among children. He is putting her life at risk every time she gets in the car.

If he doesn't like the britax go buy a light seat like a Costco scenera or a saftey first guide65. But she needs to be in a harness, no question about it.

thanks. i will put the seat back now.
or let him buy a lighter one. its my fault i bought that heavy seat.
my daughter is heavy and he is always complaining everytime he carry my daughter in the britax because its big and my daughter always bump her head when going in and out of the seat. aside from the leather thing.

you cannot use that for a 2 year old! they need the support and protection of a full car seat. his leather can be repaired - his childs safety should be first

the car seat should not be getting removed - ever really. there is no need for him to carry dc in the carseat - it stays in the car, and your dc comes out of the car. forgetting that there is no point to taking the car seat in and out of the car with DC in it, it is unsafe. you should put it back in the car and get it inspected to make sure it is in properly and then dont take it out anymore

Yes, I do know that. I read what you wrote as saying he was removing the seat from the car with her in it.

oh, so then why the concern about the weight or the carseat? bc of the leather????

your concern as parents should not be for the weight of the carseat bc of the leather - you should be concerned with the safety of the carseat.
britax are some of the top rated car seats i believe. if you have one, USE IT! dont go get another one just so that his leather wont get messed up. the money you will spend on another car seat can be used to fix up his leather when your DC are out of their carseats...but until then no one will see the leather anyway since it is under the carseats!!!
a lighter weight seat to save the car leather is not worth the safety of your child.

There is no such thing as the safest seat- all seats pass the same crash tests and results are not released to the public, so we have no idea which is safer. Britax is ranked highest for ease of use, not safety.

i am concern about my child, he is concerned about the leather. he said i put the carseat too tight that his leather is now ruined. he said that the seat is way too big to the car, and my child is heavy to carry going to the car seat.
well, if theres a will theres a way, obviously he just doesnt want to use that car seat for his leather. i know he is stupid and so am i for letting him remove the britax.

sorry, i did not mean it to come across that britax are the safest. my point was if she has a safe car seat there is no need to buy another one

Sorry but he's an ass for being more concerned about his flipping car than for the safety of his child. Put your foot down on this one.

I noticed you're selling a britax carseat. I really hope you decided against using a backless booster!

So his issue is that the Britax car seat is too big/heavy and has ruined his leather seats, AND he doesn't like carrying his daughter to put her into the Britax?

Wouldn't he have to carry her and lift her up to place her into a booster seat as well? Or does he expect her to climb into his precious car every time so he doesn't have to be burdened with carrying his own daughter..

Hopefully you can put the Britax back into his car and quickly solve this - there is no way he should be driving her in this car with a backless seat. it's dangerous.

i would bring it to a car seat inspection place to have them install it properly - maybe it won't be so 'tight'

the priorities at play here are mind boggling

For the record I have a Britax and have leather seats and it has not at any point ruined my leather.
I am not sure where that is coming from.
We took it out to put it in a rental while my car was being worked on and I didn't notice one bit of damage to my leather from the seat being in there for 2 years.

to the OP, i seriously seriously seriously hope that despite your husbands caring more about his seats than his kids, and your willingness to put your kids life in danger to appease him, that nothing ever happens to them. They deserve better than this Chat Icon

Your carseat with only a lap belt is illegal to use for a child under 4 and 40 lbs. Here is a link to help you understand the differences. LINK I fear for the safety of your children. The fact that your husband cars more about the status of his car than the safety of your children disgusts me.

How irrational is your husband? That you feel like you need to call the police if he insists on putting your kids life in danger?
It sounds like he's unstable and completely selfish.
Get a 2nd car and don't let him drive the kids anywhere in his "precious" car

Re: booster seat for 2 year old

I also have a DH who likes cars and likes keeping his items in pristine condition. He would never pick his items over safety for our children. Your DH has to get over it.

eta: if you heard the number of arguments we had about playdoh, crayons and markers in our household. lol
