bad mommy moment...

My ds has been sick for 2 weeks now. First ear infection then croup (thanks to dd) now he's wheezing oh and teething! The whole house has been sick and I haven't had a decent night sleep in weeks...anyway

My son has been becoming increasingly hard to handle. He is a big at 33lbs at 18 months. When he is frustrated or upset he bangs his head, hits and just flings his entire body...

I just had to change his diaper and the fight that pursued between the two of us was horrible...I had to try to restrain him and I started to scream at him (a very horrible ugly scream) the whole scene was traumatic for the both of us...
Now I feel terrible...I must have looked like a psychotic monster...I really need a break but unfortunately they don't exist for me...this is my only break...coming here to vent and confess my horrible mommy moment Chat Icon

Chat Icon hang in there! Just curious, what was his reaction to you screaming? Did he stop? Luckily, he won't remember it for long. Chat Icon

PS, we can't always keep it together all the time. We all have these moments

Sounds like what my ds does every single diaper change. He is 12m and some days I swear I feel like he is going to send me to an asylum. Just hang in there it'll get better.

It happens! Don't feel bad. My DD has been giving me a hard time with diaper changes. Solution: Change her standing up! She's happier and it's so much easier for me!

It happens - definitely don't feel bad. Your DS has moved past it. My DS is around the same age and hates getting his diaper changed so I feel your pain.

I have taken out frustration on my kids by yelling from time to time and I feel horrible about it. I did so last night (cleaning lady was coming, I was tired, DH was working and I was trying to straighten while DS 1 decided he needed his guitar and microphone to sing the clean up song which led to more straightening). I was grumpy so he gave me a time out.

Been there, you are not a bad mom and you are NOT alone. Chat Icon Forget about it, you are only human and anyone who doesn't get a break is entitled to snap once in a while. A scream is ok in my book.Chat Icon

don't feel bad, but I understand. I have been there a lot lately.

I have a 3 yr old (enough said) and a 6 1/2 month old. Both are very tiring and I don't get breaks either. I don't even know who's voice came out of me the other day.

it's incredibly stressful. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Agree wholeheart with this. I have had a few ugly moments when my dd fights sleeping and is overtired. And Im home alone with her and just lose my patience after an hour of trying to get her to sleep.

It happens to the best of us... *hugs*

Awwww, we all have moments like that. But that's nothing compared to all the moments filled with hugs, kisses & love.

So, don't worry about it too much. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: bad mommy moment...

thanks guys...just at my wits end
I really hate not having any family around sometimes (other times its a blessing)
Well just to add to the madness I now have an appointment in an hour for him....think he might have pink eye now
so to recap
Friday (before last) - ear infection ds
Tues - sinus infection / bronchitis for me, brought dd to dr cause I had a feeling she was sick...she was fine
Wed - dd dx croup
Friday - ds dx croup and wheezing
entire week trying to get everyone healthy son teething
Thursday - back to dr possible pink eye and to check wheezing still

not to justify screaming at my poor son but I guess its understandable to have nothing left in me

I scream all psychotic about once a month. Like where I really feel stupid and like I traumatized someone. My theory is the more I do it, the less traumatizing it becomes, lol. But seriously, we all lose it sometimes.
