Back from my appt with test results
My results were back from my 12 week ultrasound and they weren't so good.  The normal range for Downs for my age group is 1 in 65. My results came back 1 in 7. I am so mad, scared, sad.... you name it. For both my pregnancies I dealt with infertility. It was a long road to get pg and I am now challenged again (DD came back elevated at the 16w bw for Trisomy 18. Had the amnio with her and all turned out fine). My Dr is scheduling an amnio for the beginning of December. I am praying everything with this baby turns out OK. I don't know what I will do if it doesn't.
ETA- the actual measurements came back fine. But when combined with age and bw- that is where it all changed.

if you wanted to know sooner, you could go for a CVS. I had one and really it wasnt bad. Good luck and I hope it all works out ok for you both

Those tests are notoriously worng AND when done on IVF patients seem to have a higher chance of error. Ask the genetic counselor what the chances of false results are. I could swear we were told they are wrong more than they are right! Its been a while though...Good luck

Like one of the pp's said, those tests are known to be inaccurate. DH and I opted out for that reason. We knew the test results would not change anything and we would not terminate a pregnancy. My dr actually suggested I not do it because she knew it wouldn't change anything for us, she told us they produce false positives all the time and I wouldn't want to deal w/a pregnancy full of worry. Try to stay positive and dont weigh too much on those tests since they are known to be inaccurate. Sending your way!

I am more comfortable doing the amnio than the cvs. I am scheduled for 12/6, so I will try and stay positive and move on with life til then. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes.

 It's so scary, but the 12 week scans and blood work are not definite for anything! I was told at my 12 week scan that the neck thickness (nuchal fold) was significantly greater than normal and was pushed to have the CVS testing done ASAP and not wait for amnio. Turns out nothing was wrong at all. Nothing was ever based on blood work, just the scan. My 16 week AFP bloodwork came back fine!
Try and hang in their with positive thoughts. I know easier said than done.

it's so scary, but definitely think about a CVS. It was so not a big deal and for peace of mind completely worth it. I think since the measurement came back ok, that's the only hard comparison, and that age and the blood work are such wild cards in determining your real risk.

Try and stay positive at this time.. My first pregnancy the 12 week blood work came back High risk of downs.. My daughter is fine....

Try to stay positive. I know sooooo many women who have had the 12 week scan come back with a high risk for downs and in the end the baby was fine.
