back from Dr. and so upset...w/ question
so i just went to the dr to talk about my current 54 day cycle and my past irregular cycles.
he did a sonogram and you could see both ovaries are full of cysts....they looked like honeycombs. I don't have bloodwork to confirm yet but he said that is a pretty clear sign i have PCOS. He said that to get pregnant I will probably need medicine and may want to go right to a RE.
he also gave me provera to get my period started now.
thank you to all the girls who said i may have cysts/pcos....if it wasnt for your advice i prob wouldn't have made the dr appt. At least now i know whats up and can go from here...
so my question, does anyone know of a really good RE in NYC?

awww I'm so sorry.
I've been seeing Dr Braverman. He's an RE who has an office in NYC and LI.
What's nice about him is that he is available via email all the time!!
I recommend him for sure. He works with a lot of PCOS girls and he is so insanely thorough. More so than any doctor I've ever been to in my entire life.
I'm sorry about all this, but it's good to know so you can start working on it.

PCOS is very common and once you start treatment you should be okay to conceive...sorry you have to go thru this but things will get better

i have PCOS. i was devastated when i found out (i was TTC for 6 months at the time) but once i accepted it, its really not the worst thing in the world. its entirely treatable and you will get pregnant, it will just take some meds.
i see dr. Braverman and i highly recommend him. hes only in the city once in a while but you can always do your monitoring there whether he is there or not. he is an amazing doctor and person.

thank you! I am upset bc its a potential obstacle but I just talked to DH and he calmed me down. I know plenty of women have gotten pregnant with PCOS. I just need to stay positive. I am going to make an appt with Dr. B. Thanks again for the info/advice!

don't worry too much about it. you are right and it stinks that you have to deal with this but you can still get pregnant tons of girls have gotten pregnant on here and i am sure you will find lots of support from them

Don't let the PCOS diagnosis discourage you!
I was diagnosed in HS and was put on BCP and remained on it until we were ready to TTC. Of course you will need the help of a RE and that is always upsetting, but just know that you WILL conceive!! It may take us PCOSers longer than others, but it will happen!!

Oh and just so you know PCOS runs in my family. My cousins have it... and one is too young but the older married one has 2 kids now, both she had naturally.
So please don't be too discouraged. You can still have a happy and healthy baby even though you have PCOS.

i know it sucks..i was heartbroken when i got back from doc..i never thought i would need meds to help me get preggo..i wanted to be natural like everyone else..
but look at it like this..now we know what we have to do and it takes us closer to our goal...

eta..i dont have a re yet..my doc gave me the scrips for 50 mg..that dont work we go to 100..that dont work 150 plus metformin(spelled wrong)..then if that dont work then she suggested a re..so im going that route but i dont know how many months of neg preg tests i can take before i go see one

I also have PCOS. I was too was devastated when I was told I'd need help to have a baby. I'm now pregnant with my third - twins and now a singleton. I used RSofNY to get pregnant both times - I think they have an office in Brooklyn.
