baby led weaning?
Anyone try BLW? I was on the wholesome food website and came across the article on this. Very interesting but I've already had DD on purees. Just curious what everyone's experience has been.

Re: baby led weaning?
im on a group where many moms practice it. i dont know much about it except that it's normal for baby to gag and throw up and that you should keep at it.

Re: baby led weaning?
I did it with my younger one, its easy and fun. You just basically give your kids finger foods and let them have a go at eating it, no messy nasty purees and its perfectly safe. Babies gag all the time, they have to learn to move the food around their mouths, so gagging is completely normal. I say read up on it and just go for it! You can do boiled veggies like carrots or bread or french toast. It teaches the babies to feed themselves! Give it a go! I did a mix of spoon feeding and blw, it worked well. Good luck!

Re: baby led weaning?
I did a hybrid version of this, introduced foods with puree 3 day rule, then gave pieces little by little, tiny pieces, smooshed in my fingers.
My baby never chocked, not really gagged either, but maybe I just had a really hungry baby. He loved to eat and taste everything. Its not realistic that baby will be eating steak, but a stew maybe in tiny tiny mushy pieces to start.

Re: baby led weaning?
I did this with dd and am doing it with ds2 also. DS2 is not 7 months and can pick up bite size pieces and feed himself. He can't always digest it well so diaper changes are interesting lol I have not had either throw up but dd did choke once. It was on a baby mum mum. I never gave them again and we never had another problem after that.
