Baby Fund
Do you guys have a baby fund? Meaning did you start saving for baby things and the increase in the cost of living while TTC or are you saving now?
*NIC emergency fund*

Re: Baby Fund
Our baby fund consists of the state and federal refund we just got. That's also part of my maternity leave fund since i don't get paid for that either.

Re: Baby Fund
we didnt start a baby fund, but when DS was born we opened him a bank account, got him a life insurance policy and bought him stock.
As for DD to be, it will be the same...

Re: Baby Fund
we will open up an acct for the baby once the baby is born. We did open up a separate savings acct. to put $ away for when I am out on maternity for 12 weeks b/c I will only get paid for the time I have left of vacation, sick, etc...which may only be 1 month worth of pay. We put our tax return in there and any $ we can save...

Re: Baby Fund
Not yet, but once he's born we'll be openning an account and putting all his baptism money, birthday gift money, and any other monies he gets into it. I'm sure we'll also start putting a % of our yearly income into the account as well to help save for college for him.

Re: Baby Fund
My ING savings account is where I put all his $$$/gifts. Whatever we have in our savings/my 401K/etc would ultimately got to him anyways.

Re: Baby Fund
we haven't really started a baby fund yet. We have been fortunate to have the furniture paid for by my parents & some other expenses picked up by my DH's job. Once the baby is born, we will open an account in his name & deposit any type of gifts he gets

Re: Baby Fund
We didn't start a baby fund. But I've been making more of an effort to save every month into our regular savings accts. I've stopped shopping and using credit cards. The cost of Daycare has got me scared straight.
I have a goal $ amount I want to have stashed by the time the baby is born. Hopefully I will make it. Nursery Furniture will be paid out of this account too.

Re: Baby Fund
Yes, the day we decided when to start TTC we started saving big time - more for when I was out on maternity leave with no pay than anything else. It was nice to have the cushion and a good first attempt at living on much less $ (DS is in daycare... need i say more )

Re: Baby Fund
We opened a savings account for DD and have put all of her gifts into it. We also opened a 529 for her that we put money into every month. We will do the same for DS once he is born and we got his birth certificate and SS card.

Re: Baby Fund
We have an account now that we will change in our DD's name when she comes and any gifts for her will be deposited in there. We had some money in there to start out but we haven't been putting in it regularly as of yet.

Re: Baby Fund
I have been saving a little bit. As of now, I have enough to pay for the nursery furniture. I would like to save enough to cover us when I am on maternity leave, but we'll see how that goes. Unfortunately, other expenses keep getting in the way
