Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
My earliest memory was from when I was 2 1/2.
If I go back before my parents put the pieces together to help me figure it out...
I was walking down a hallway with a shiny floor. I was holding someone's hand but I don't know who...I feel like it's a man. I remember my shoes...brown mary jane-like shoes. I go into a room and my mom is there..sitting up in a large recliner like chair. There is a woman there that I think is my Nonna but she doesn't look like her and she makes me scared so I hold the hand tighter.
Years ago my parent's pieced it together... I was walking down the hall of St. Charles hospital holding my father's hand. My mother was in a bed...not a chair and we were there to see my baby brother
The woman was my father's mother. She was incredibly mean to my mom and we didn't know her all that well. My father remembered what upset me...and I did hold on to him tight...she called my brother a meatball

Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
I remember sitting in the kitchen and I didn't want to eat. My mother went to hit me, and my sister grabbed her hand from behind to stop her!
My mom then proceeded to backhand my sister and then smush the entire bowl of food into my face and I had to sit there while she yelled at my sister.
I remembered this for the longest time before talking about it to my sister and mom - and they said I wasn't even 2 at the time (I was in the high chair at the time).
I also remember around that time, my sister ran away and my dad found her in the subway station. He brought her home and my parents locked her in the bathroom and beat the ever-loving-cr@p out of her. I was hiding behind my changing table in the hallway and my brother found me there and picked me up and took me for a walk.
My poor parents, this is what I remember LOL they were really good parents otherwise!

Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
I have three vivid memories.
1. When I was 2, the house across the street from us went up for sale. I remember holding someone hand and crossing the street to go see the house. My mom didn't believe that I remembered this, but I was able to tell her that my sister's room had a hardwood floor and a red oriental rug. There are no pictures of it, so she knew I really remembered
2. Also when I was 2: I remember sneaking out of my room and hiding in the hallway, listening to my parents screaming at each other in the living room. I remember I was wearing fleece footie pajamas. I was watching them. Then my sister (who was 12 at the time) scooped me up, brought me into her room and we snuggled in her bed together
3. When I was almost 4: I remember my dad sitting me on his lap in "his chair" and saying "Daddy isn't going to live here anymore. But it doesn't mean that I don't love you anymore. You'll always be my little girl and we'll still see each other all the time".
It has made me realize--now that my daughter is 2, the way my DH and I treat each other...she's going to remember that. Unfortunately, I don't have very good memories of my parents from when they were married.

under 2 i remember sitting up in my crib (well, no side to the crib so I guess it was a "toddler bed") and calling for my dad. my nose my nonstop running. he came in and showed me how to stuff tissues up my nose to stop the drip
i also remember standing up in my crib and puking over the side. then my mom came in and cleaned it while my dad tried telling me a story about Barbie and Ken to make me feel better

Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
I am not sure how old...may around 3? I remember my uncle and my brother running up to me and my uncle spanked my behind I was holding cotton candy and it fell on the ground and I started to I wasn't crying because of the spanking but because I dropped my treat!
This memory was when we were up in Lake George. My uncle had taken my brother and I out and gotten us treats and I apparently wandered off. He was scared sh*tless thinking he had lost me.
Even at that age I was already a troublemaker!

Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
around 3. Lots of them. Some ordinary of me on the floor in our living room. I know the age only because of WHAT the living room looked like.
Also water.
It is my far my biggest memory from young childhood.
We lived in Cuba (navy) and those waters are sooooooooo blue. It was why I wanted to be a marine biologist. Shame I never finished that goal. Stayed with me from then through to college
The fish were so pretty and bright. I still describe to my Dad an adventure out on the water every now and then. Dad, did you ever catch a fish with your hands? A bluish, yellow one? He is usually shocked and says "Yeah you were in Cuba and you wanted to touch it, so I finally caught one" haha
Ah memories
Plus an odd one. Just recently I called my Dad and said
Did you run over mom, once?
Of course he's like NO! WtheF?! I said I remembered something like cops and robbers and he drove up and she tried to jump in and he ran over her. I remember being so upset and crying so scared.
Thats when he said "OH Bonnie & Clyde! Jesus you remember that? We were playing around, her idea. Yes I ran over her foot, you were crying like I killed her!"

Re: At what age was your EARLIEST memory as a child ?
I remember vaguely my crib..but not as a baby maybe at 2ish-3ish. I lcearly remember my crib and a bottle. My parents had a hard time taking the bottle away from me. I also remember my grandmother walking up our block in Queens when she cvame to visit from Bklyn and me running up to her...she always came with HUGS bags. That was definitely before I was 5 becasue she moved in with us when I was 5.
