Asbestos removal
Anyone know what it costs to remove asbestos wrapped around steam pipes to radiators?

not cheap. Only certain companies can do it and they have to set up a entire containment/shower room for decontamination.
Is the pipe insulation intact? if so why do you want to remove it.....asbestos is only a problem if it is airborne

Thanks for replying. I am aware that only certain companies are licensed to take it out and have had one company come to look, but haven't gotten their estimate yet. I'm about to put the house on the market for sale and several brokers told me the presence of asbestos is a problem that potential buyers do not want to see. Both strongly suggested I get it removed before listing the house. It is flaking in some places, so even I can see it needs to be removed. Sigh.

I think a good estimate is about $ 25 per linear foot.

Its very costly. We had it in our house when we bought it. IT wasnt flaking but still we DID NOT want it. It was about 2 feet and cost us over $400. We actually got a few estimates and that was the cheapest.
Its insane! But we did it bc it was important to get rid of it.
ETA : my mistakem, I ust checked ...it was UNDER a foot and it was $400!!!
