arg!!!
I think I might seriously lose it. The weekend is looking like you-know-what, weekdays are gorgeous, and I have ONE day left of paid time off after the whole giving birth thing and my grandma passing away. I am about to lose my cool because I cannot even begin to think about another summer of gorgeous weekdays and horrendous weekends. I cannot imagine not having some time with my little man. I cannot imagine not going to the beach ONCE this summer (which I didn't do at all last year). I cannot imagine this summer flying by without actually getting to enjoy it. I'm sitting here at my desk about to lose my composure and burst into tears....
I'm probably just PMSing but I just really can't take it today.
I need

Can you take some days off, unpaid? May be worth your sanity if you can.

That's what I'm going to have to do. I can afford to lose a few days, I'm just going to lose it otherwise.

Re: arg!!!
That is because NY sucks. The weather here is getting worse and worse every year. We get about a month of summer We pay for it with 9 months of horrendous snow and freezing cold.
And when the one month of summer comes, the weekends ALWAYS suck. Without fail
I hate living here.

I don't mind summer here, I just need to be able to enjoy it. I have ONE day left, and that has to last me through till SEPTEMBER??? All because they couldn't give me the courtesy of bereavement days, which everywhere else I've EVER worked has provided.
I'm going to discuss with DH tonight, I really think I need to take 1 day off every other week, so I'd lose 1 day in my paycheck biweekly. It wouldn't be terrible. If I had someone else who could pick up DS on Thursdays, I would work late on Thursdays and then I would just make up the hours, but I don't have anyone who can pick him up.

Re: arg!!!
I think I live on a different planet sometimes, LOL. Last summer was gorgeous, almost perfect! Every weekend we were at the beach or doing some other outdoor activity. This year was off to a slow start but we already had a few beach days (weekends) and got a lot of outdoor stuff in this past weekend even with the crazy weather. Sat Am was nice and then Sun after about 12 was awesome. And last I saw Saturday was supposed to be decent. IDK, I live for the summers here and always enjoy them and max them out, usually well into Sept even Oct.

LOL< maybe we have different definition of beach days or gorgeous for a summer, in order for it to be a beach day for me, it needs to be full sun and AT LEAST 80-85 degrees. We got VERY few weekend days like that last year.

Re: arg!!!
Last summer was not hot, very mild. Very little humidity. I prefer that TBH. Heat is ok but humidity not so much. Guess that's why we spend so much time at the beach. Less humid, usually a breeze. And no it doesn't have to be all sun, no clouds for a beach day but most of pics from last year are sunny ones. Guess it's all in the perspective.

So true. I need a sunny and HOT day to really enjoy the beach.
The year before, we were in our pool all the time, last summer, used it maybe once, lol. I stare at it when I get up in the morning and it's just calling to me, and then the weekend comes and it's crap, lol.
I need some chocolate...

Me too. It's cooler at the beach anyway so if it's not in the 80's, it's too cool at the beach. I can't tell you how many days I spent at the beach with a sweatshirt on last year. One time we were so determined to make the most of the short summer we went when it was cloudy hoping it would clear up. It rained on us and was freezing. It's so frustrating.
To me, summer means HOT. Like 85-90. Anything less is spring.

it's not even so much the going away thing. It's the enjoying what's around here. We do the wineries all the time, LOVE them, lol. I was actually planning on heading out there if Sunday started looking better. It's more about actually having the weather to enjoy what we have.
But those are good points. We have the little man, so there are some trips we are planning. Next weekend we will be up in Saratoga, and I cannot wait. We were just talking about going away the week of Labor Day somewhere and planning it now (and not last minute like we always do, lol). Any suggestions? I'm actually thinking that might not be a bad week to do Disney or an All-Inclusive.

You need to go out during the week after work. I do this a lot w/ my husband if its a nice night. Pack up food and hit the beach from like 5 to 8pm. At least you feel like you had a decent day. We come home and change and go asap.

That would be lovely, but I don't get home until 6:30/7 after picking up my son, and DH doesn't get home until around 7:30. LOL. We basically get an hour or two before we are all in bed.

My mom was telling me that Sandals has ONE family friendly all-inclusive, she things it's in Turks & Cacos, I'm going to do a little research. I need these things to look forward to, lol. I'm having a rough day.

LOL< you ain't kidding. DH leaves the house at 6am... I don't know how he does it, but this company he works for is incredible in every other way... they are amazing and if I worked for them I'd be perfectly content to work those hours. Though I'm not a civil engineer, lol.

I am so sorry you are feeling such frustration. I really do empathize. A few years ago I had to undergo cancer treatment during the summer and I still feel as if I lost a year out of my life. I look back and can't remember enjoying a single day in the sun, garden or beach. My sister took me to have coffee at a darling cafe on a pretty street and as I sat there exhaustedly looking around I realized that it was actually high summer, and I hadn't noticed it happening.
Thankfully you are healthy, and the weather can't always be bad, so here's hoping that you DO get some gorgeous weekends! (((Hugs)))

You are absolutely right, and thank you so much for giving me a dose of humble pie
It just gets tough when you don't get to leave the office for 9 hours and have no sunshine coming through
