Are 3D/4D Sonograms Worth It?
Since it's not free, who thinks it's worth the $250 or so to get those pictures? It's only gonna be 10-15 weeks before you see the baby anyway!
DH doesn't think so and I'm not sure what to think.

I don't know if I would have done it for the fee they charge, but I did manage to have it done a few times when I've gone for sonograms. At least that was included in my co-pay.

I looked at the site last night that someone posted for the place in East Meadow. I noticed that you can request this as a baby shower gift........maybe that's the way to go instead of paying out of pocket for it.

I didnt have it done bc I was high risk and I had so many sonos I saw the baby great on the high risk drs machine so that was good enough for me

I personally think it's a nice memory to have. I did it when I was 30 weeks along with DD and this time around I did it at 30 weeks as well. It was fun to compare the 2. It is expensive & honestly we didn't get too many great shots of his face because it was buried on the side & he would not move!! But if I am blessed to be pregnant for a 3rd time, I would do it again!

I had it done the first time (paid for by ins). I haven't checked yet to see if it would be paid for again but I don't think we will be doing it. It was nice to have but not necessary IMO.

This is something that my husband really wanted. We paid about $125 for a 15 minute session but I live in Texas. It was an amazing experience, SO different from a regular sono. I have pics in my album. While I probably wouldn't have paid $200 or more, it was worth it for $125.

I didn't do it with my DS and I won't be doing it this time around either.
I did not pay to have them with my DS, but it just happened to be that the songram machine that was used for my 2nd and 3rd ultrasounds had 3D on them so the tech gave me a few pics. Personally the 3D pictures scare me and I would never pay to have them done.

There are actually legitimate medical reasons that justify the necessity of 3D and 4D sonos. If a person NEEDS it to diagnose or aid in treating a problem either in utero or immediately after birth, then yes its worth it IMO. Otherwise it is a cool and fun thing but not necessary.
Frankly, I have yet to see a baby that looks anything like the 3D or 4D sonogram after they are born. If you deliver vaginally, I would imagine that passing a child alone would change its looks. That's just my opinion.

My DD looked nothing like her 3D/4D pics. I agree that I have yet to see one that is so good it ruins the surprise....

I've seen a post and some pictures on a board in Winthrop's L&D that show the 3D position and then the child after birth in the same position. Some of them are so right on!

I just booked my appointment today at Impact for Friday the 20th. I'll be a little over 34 weeks. Both DH and I wanted it and we don't spend $ on anything these days so it's like a Mother's Day/Father's Day gift to ourselves. But I'm doing the smallest package and with the coupon I think it's 160.00.
