Anyone's DH against using the Baby Bjorn
or similar carrier?
Or just against purchasing certain products due to not understanding them.
My DH says he will NOT use the carrier. He will not give me a reason other than he thinks it looks uncomfortable and does not "get it".
I have not used one recently, but I did with my nephew many years ago and it was great. Granted you cannot use it for a long period of time, but I totally think it serves its purpose.
He also mentioned that he does not understand getting a swing.
What is wrong with him?
Are your DH's like this?

Re: Anyone's DH against using the Baby Bjorn
while Dave doesn't quite 'get' why some things are needed, he knows that stuff IS...and wouldn't refuse because he didn't understand.
the baby bjorn confuses the HECK out of me....all the straps...but i have a friend who uses nothing but it - so i'm sure she can fill me in.. We also were recently at a close friends' house and used her bambino (see my avatar) - he liked it...said it was comfortable.

Re: Anyone's DH against using the Baby Bjorn
Against you using it or him using it???
My DH is all for baby wearing.... I'm going to a store up here in CT next week to get fitted for a sling that I can start using right away with and even be able to nurse her in it. Since babies like to be held a lot on the beginning nad feel close to mom or dad I figured this will be a huge help!
DH is all for wearing the baby too!!
Below is the link to an old thread I started a few months back on teh benefits of baby wearing. Maybe show it to your DH , one of the articles is written by a well known pediatrician!

He does not want to use it. I think he needs to be educated about the usefulness of certain baby items.
Thanks for the link

Re: Anyone's DH against using the Baby Bjorn
Mine won't use the BJorn OR the sling, he feels like the baby is squished and/or unsafe. That's because he's AwkwardMan. He used the bjorn ONCE to go to the drugstore with me; we got to the store, I did my shopping and had to go find him,- at the pharmacy section holding on to the counter, and was, literally, BLUE, almost passing out. He used the Bjorn with the waist straps in the position that *I* used them, so they were about 4 inches too tight, he didn't know they moved.

You described exactly how DH felt about it too when I was pregnant with DD. I did end up getting one anyway and he did end up using it a few times but honestly really disliked it.

You can also remind him of how "cozy" and squished the baby is in teh womb.... The like to be snuggled and cuddled up to someone warm and feel your heart beating, its very soothing. I think you will find the articles really interesting!
If you want more info on different slings and baby wearing FM me and I'll send you over some great resources!

Re: Anyone's DH against using the Baby Bjorn
my dh and i are very excited about carrying the baby around, but aren't getting the baby bjorn. they only last up to 20 something pounds, have tons of (unpadded) straps, and put all the weight on your shoulders. we're getting the Lillebby Carrier which you can use up to 40 pounds, puts the weight on your hips (and has padded straps), and is MUCH simpler to use. it's kind of like the ergo but you can use it from infancy without any inserts. plus you can wear it on your back unlike the ergo.
is it the carrier he doesn't like or the whole idea? maybe your dh will like the idea of a different carrier?

ME ME!!! My DH refuses to wear one. He thinks they look ridiculious, especially when man wears one. I'm still registering for one, and I plan to wear it. He is not against a sling though. He has no problem wearing that.

I can't wait to see this tough tattooed "man's man" wearing our baby.

Yes - mine absolutely refuses to use one.
And wait until you hear his reason - he thinks that it makes men look like they want to be pregnant. I KNOW! So ridiculous. I love my DH but sometimes I really wonder about him.....

Ah, mine's just the opposite. Is fine about the Baby Bjorn, but probably wouldn't use a different sling. I'd actually prefer a sling though because I'm concerned about hwo the bjorn affects the baby's posture/spine.

I just cracked up reading this because it sounds EXACTLY like my DH. he is totally AwkwardMan too!
