anyone have an attachment to old clothes?
I am trying to clean out my closet and drawers and I realize I keep holding onto so many items for sentimental reasons that I never wear anymore. I kind of want them gone but I can't bear to get rid of them either. I have some pieces that are like 15 years old! Is this normal or weird?

I have a sweatshirt from the Express that I got at 18 and I am now 45. I still wear it lol. So I'm going to say normal : )

My mom's clothes. She passed 11 years ago and I can't bear the thought of someone else wearing them. I boxed them and put them in the attic. My own clothes, not so much.

SusiBEE me too but my grandma, I have some cloth in a small suitcase she would bring when she visited. If I open is I swear I can still smell her. I have her old perfume sitting in my bathroom and the last bottle of baby powered I bought her. It has her name on it, it was for her when in the nursing home
KarenK122, me as well. Some items are hard to let go lol
I don't think its normal or weird, I think certain items hold a place in your memory. As long as it does interfere with your everyday life not a problem.

I used to be more sentimental, but as I've gotten older, I'm able to get rid of things more easily. DH has also helped me in that he gets rid of things no problem.
Getting rid of the kids' stuff is a whole different story! They are still really little, but I'm dreading the day I will need to purge!

I recently purged a whole bunch of stuff from my closet that I am too fat now to wear.
I rewarded myself by picking up some new things that actually fit well.
Certain things I will not get rid of though.

I really, really need to do a serious closet purge. I can never bring myself to do it. I have clothes with tags on it that are probably 7-8 years old. I have juicy couture velour sweatsuits from 2002. I really need to make like Elsa and let it go!

I do have a gorgeous cashmere cardigan that I bought at a designer sample sale in the early 90's. It is oversized, soft and warm. Even with the moth holes, I refuse to get rid of it.

For me its the comfort clothes that I can't let go of. I have big comfy sweatshirts from high school that I still wear around the house all winter.

I have a ton of old clothes that I haven't wore since college. I think I keep them in hopes that I may fit back into them some day. HAHAHA

oh, i'm a sentimental sap!!
most of the items i keep were sewn for me by an elder relative: my baptism dress, a t-shirt, a turtle neck, a skirt, a shawl, my prom dress.
i also have a few DS's baby clothes.

Re: anyone have an attachment to old clothes?
I have some, but I limit what I keep. I have 2 beautiful silk jackets that were hand tailored when I went to china - in 2006, about 50 pounds ago. And I have a red satin wrap top from when I first met DH. I remember him telling me he'd never forget the way I looked on that particular night. So yeah, I kept it.

I hold on to the stupidest stuff, like a favorite lbd I will never fit into again and an outfit I wore to a rascal flatts concert. I donate tons of clothes every year, though.

Yes, I have stuff from 20+ years ago that I won't give away--though I still sleep or wear some of it around the house. But I really need to get rid of stuff, especially ones with holes.

I'm the same - keep holding onto clothes that I think I'll wear when I lose weight (ha!). Or I have clothes for the different sizes - super fat clothes, medium fat clothes, etc.
Plus, I was heavily into swing dancing in the late 90s so I have a ton of vintage clothing that I hope to fit into one day. I need to look at them with a shrewd eye and think of things I may be able to wear again in my 40s (and after having a child) vs what I'll never fit into again or shouldn't wear b/c they're not age appropriate.

I can get rid of regular clothes that don't fit, but not dresses - mostly cocktail dresses, but now a few work dresses too. I know it's crazy, b/c if I lost weight & they were too big to be altered, I probably wouldn't keep them.
