Re: anyone delvering at south nassau?
I delivered my daughter there 2 years ago and will be delivering #2 there in August. I loved it. Everyone has their own private room and its so quiet. The nurses were very nice and accomadating. I did not take birthing classes. My OB actually said she thought it wasn't neccessary since she and the nurses would be guided me through the whole delivery. I am glad I didn't take the class since I had an emergency c-section.

I will be.. My sister has been a L&D nurse there for 26 years!! No classes she is my doula and we talk about it probably every day.. i do not think the classes are free.. i wanted to take the BFdng class but I couldnt get a good date.. So I called one of the lactation nurses there and she helped me.. I am buying my pump from them..

I delivered my 2nd there and it was heaven. The private rooms are the best. The staff was great, the food isn't bad.
I would like to deliver this baby there but looks like I will need the NICU and Mercy or Winthrops is better than South Nassau.

the tour is free--and totally worth it IMO. you get to see the rooms so you're more prepared for what to expect. i was also able to see what they provided and what i had to bring. they show you where to go, etc.
the classes cost money. it wasn't a ton, but to me, it wasn't worth it. once labor started for me, that was it. no breathing or focusing could help me, but every woman is different. the LCs there are great--not pushy at all and they respond to your call almost immediately! so if you have a BF question, they will help you for as long as you need. so i'm glad i didn't waste money on a class, when you have personalized LC service at south nassau

I am delivering there in August and am not taking the classes but am taking the tour next month. We are watching the Laugh and Learn about Childbirth DVD which is really good. I've seen the rooms at SN before and love how they are private!

Re: anyone delvering at south nassau?
I will be delivering @ South Nassau in August. I have to call and set up my hospital tour. the only class I have signed up for is the Preparation for BFing class - for this upcoming Monday night... it was $30.
I hear nothing but wonderful things about SN. Looking forward to the experience.

Re: anyone delvering at south nassau?
I delivered at SN last year and plan to do it again this September I took their child birth class last year and honestly, it could have been condensed down into two evening classes instead of four or five. It was nice to meet other couples though. The nurse who taught the class gave out really good reading material.

I am delivering there in August & contemplating taking their all day Childbirth class. Not sure if it is worth it. I am doing the Hospital tour though on the 11th

Re: anyone delvering at south nassau?
I ended up getting closed out of the class, but one of the nurses does it on the side and so we got an individual class. I didn't realize how helpful it would be. Everyone told me it would be a waste, but the breathing I learned really kept me calm. I did have back labor though and ended up having to have a c-section because of my DS was sunny side up!
