I never BF my son and I don't plan on BFing this child either... For me it was never an option... I had breast surgery 3 months before I got Pg with DS and was not completely healed yet... and with this one .. My breasts have been very tender and sore to the touch.. so not going to happen

I BF DS for a year. I knew I wanted to do it. I will say that at first, it was really hard to get a good latch going with DS. When we were in the hospital he had to supplement with formula b/c he was not feeding well. I think it took about 3 months before I felt like I really knew what I was doing. It is an exteremely personal decision to BF. I loved it and felt like it was the absolute best bonding experience with my son. For me, I felt like I was giving my son exactly what he needed and when he needed it. For the pluses - I always had fresh milk for him. I could feed him when ever he needed it. It was always the right temperature.It is cheeper and the best thing is that it is GREAT for loosing weight. Oh and collostrum - the premilk you make for the first few days is considered liquid gold. Even formula companies say nothing is better than that for a newborn. Now the minuses - my boobs will never be the same, they are mushy, when my milk first came in it hurt so badly because I was horribly engorged. By about 10 months I felt like hey I want my body back for myself. If you EBF then you are the only person who is up at all hours of the day and night with your DC. I did give DS some formula. There were nights especially at the beginning where I had to sleep so DH fed DS with formula so I could get an hour of sleep. Please feel free to FM with questions. If you plan on BFing I would see a lactaion specialist in the hospital or just after to help you get things going.

All throughout my pregnancy I knew I wasn't going to BF. In like my 32nd week I started to doubt my decision and I talked it over with my DH. I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. I have never been comfortable with my chest and couldn't imagine BFing.

I also knew that once I went back to work I wasn't going to be able to pump b/c my office doesn't have a bathroom...we have to go out in the hall to a community bathroom. I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable pumping in there.

So m decision was to not do it and I feel no guilt over it. I know it was the best decision for me and my DD.
