Re: another daycare situation (not bad though)

Thank you everyone for your input. I think for us, it makes sense to at least keep DS in for this month, then re-evaluate. Good daycare spots, that are affordable AND I am comfortable with are extremely hard to come by around here (where I am in NJ). Of course if it looks like DH will be out for a while it makes no sense. But I also know how my DH is and he has never once cared for DS for an entire day. He will be shellshocked lol...and he won't be able to concentrate on finding a new job and no, we don't really have sitter options where someone can last minute watch the baby.

Don't worry! They figure it REALLY quickly! DH had never spent 1 whole day (maybe a FEW hours with at least 1 phone call to me!!!) with DS till I returned to work!!! IF you have to pull DS from daycare, DH will figure it out!!Chat Icon

Re: another daycare situation (not bad though)

If you can afford it, I would send DC to daycare. Finding a place that you trust is and reasonably priced is really hard to find. Looking for a job is stressful as it is and it would be easier for DH to not have to watch DC. Looking for a job puts all kinds of stresses on a family and if there is anything you can do to ease those stresses without compromising your financial situation then go for it.

I'm currently unemployed and looking for a job. We decided to keep my older son in daycare because he's doing well and we didn't want to loose his spot. Normally DS#2 would go to a babysitter 2 days a week and to my ILs the other days. I've kept him home with me a few days and I will tell you that it's really hard to focus on the job search when he's here. An active job search is almost like a full-time job. I find that I'm more productive when I can focus on job search and not have to take care of DC.

Good luck to your DH on his job search. Chat Icon

I would put him in daycare and play it by ear. If it seems that money will become an issue or your DH isn't getting a job so fast, take him out.

I wouldn't give up the spot just yet thoughChat Icon
