I think that if he did get this far......his record may not be the same......I think they have less control the further they go (like under a contract of some sort).

What a waste. I really thought Melinda would take the whole thing. If Blake wins, I'm going to be really upset. Sure, he's different...but Melinda and Jordin are just in a completely different league.
This show is NOT supposed to be about finding mediocre singers.

Just got home. Will watch the show tomorrow.Teens vote for cute guys and girls they can identify with. Thats why the final two are who they are. JMO.

I am still in total shock.
While I didnt "love" the way Melinda performed, she definately deserved winning for her singing voice. She was amazing. Although I did have a feeling it was going to be Jordin and Blake.
I am rooting for Jordin..Blake just isnt good enough..and while I LOVE Blakes personality and he is so adorable and sweet, Jordin is just a better singer.
Melinda will do SOMETHING..but she should have won.
Sidenote..what the heck was up ryans butt tonight?? He was so nasty..especially to blakes dad! He made me really mad!!!
Also, they claim the judges dont know whos leaving before they announce the results, but I think they do. I think thats why Simon was in a bad mood all night (worse than usual)..I think he knew Melinda was leaving and he was mad.

regardless of who the "winner" is i think its safe to say that Melinda, Blake, and Jordin will end up with recording contracts.
look at last season, taylor hicks won and got his contract but i dont hear him on the radio at all! who do i hear? daughtry, kat mcphee, and elliott yamin.
melinda will be just fine.

Thank goodness she finally went home. Did you see when she went back to her home town there were def not as many fans there as the other 2.
She had an ok voice but she is too old looking and could never be a good Idol.

I am shocked! Although I love Blake I don't think he deserves to win and thought for sure he'd be sent home last night.

I said this to DH last night! When Melinda went home, it didn't see like they gave her the same fanfare as Jordin or Blake...
I am very happy with the results. Jordin has an amazing voice & Blake has a lot of talent & definately different!!!!
Melinda will do fine outside of AI!

Elliot's teeth----SCARY, he looked better when he was on the show.
Maroon 5- strange, very strange.
Results, America got it right!
Melinda is amazing but I think too many people were put off by her looks unfortunately. The title is "American IDOL" not America's best singer. It is a singing competition but looks, originality, and personality definately play into it and for that....Blake deserves to be there!

Melinda will do fine on her own. She'll get a recording contract and deservedly so. Sometimes I think they are better off NOT winning AI. Besides Kelly Clarkson...runners-up have done better on their own in the past.
Blake...I am not a fan. He's got a voice I've heard a million times before. He's boy-band material. Not impressed...though I do enjoy his beat-boxing.
I like Jordin. She's cute and she's got a great set of pipes. Hope she wins it.

Blake was the most original of the final 3. I couldn't stand Melinda, and the way she shakes her head like a bobblehead when she sings. I know it sounds mean, but shes in a total league of her own, IMHO. I dont enjoy watching her perform as I do w/Blake.

ITA... Blake and Jordin had followings. As great a singer as Melinda is, she just doesn't have the "look." Remember who the core voting base of this show is, and who is staying up all night texting in votes.
Melinda will have a career, there is no doubt about it.
And to tell you the truth the show is called american IDOL, not america's best singer... The word "idol" has a lot of connotations, and Melinda just didn't fit in with the whole "idol" thing.

I was in shock and still am that Melinda got voted off-although I didn't want her to win I thought for sure it was going to be Jordin and Melinda...Now that its Blake and Jordin I know for sure Jordin is going to win it all
I am sure Melinda will still do well even though she didn't make it-even though she bugged me with those surprised looks on her face all the time-I kind of felt bad for her last night! I think the judges were shocked too.
