Am I doing something wrong? Cranky baby at the same time everyday..

My DS is a great baby, he really is. He is starting to STTN and even when he wakes up at 3am he just eats and goes right to bed. When we wake up around 8AM he eats, stays up a bit then goes back to napping for a couple of hours. This is pretty much our daily routine, that is, until 10pm comes around then hes a totally different baby. He is very cranky! and nothing seems to sooth him. I know he is tired but he is fighting sleep. It takes DH and I about 2hrs to calm him and then he finally goes to sleep around 1130-12am. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be changing our routine during the day so he wont be cranky at night?

Nope its your DCs witching hour. My DS is cranky everyday around 6ish

Sounds like a touch of colic. One of the main things with colic is that it hits at the same time every day. He will outgrow it. My older son was colicky for a brief period. Every night from about 6-7 pm he would cry inconsolably. We just tried to stay calm with him and rock him, as hard as that can be, and just get through it. He staryed around 6 weeks and it lasted about a month.

Witching hour. Dd is 2 and is still cranky from 5-6.

Totally normal.

We have the same issue.

Witching hour around 10pm. Sometimes lasts until the next feeding.

Thank God for maternity leave!

My DD is around the same age as ur DS and she is doing the sane thing. I have reD that babies can go through a fussy period starting around 6 weeks and lasting around a month. Nothing we do makes her happy in the evening but people keep telling me she will get over it so I guess we just have to get through this rough patch.

my DD had that but hers lasted for what seemed like forever! i swear the clock would strike 7pm and all hell woulld break loose until like 10pm! it was awful! what worked finally for her was a tight swaddle in her miracle blanket, a binky and white noise machine! i also found that i was keeping her up b.c i thought she would sleep longer but her bedtime really needed to be BY 7pm. once i did that it ended but she also grew out of it! good luck and hang in there it does end! :)

My DS was the same! I started putting him to bed with a breathable A&A blanket. I would stand over him with it, until he fell asleep. Now he doesn't fall asleep without it
I steal it as soon as he falls asleep still, and probably will until hes 10

Normal! My DS is the same way. He has certain times that he is just so cranky. Especially if he had an overstimulating day. The only advice is I would try to get him to sleep at night a little earlier if you can. He could be getting overtired. My DS falls asleep around 8-830pm.
When he happens to be super cranky and tired, I will lower the lights, shut the TV off, put a pacifier in his mouth and rock him. I might even bring him in our room near the air conditioner which is a nice white noise. I know when he is overstimulated and cranky he needs quiet and darkness. Most of the time it calms him right down.

Very normal. My twins are both cranky around 7:30 every night. Thankfully they are both cranky at the same time so we dont have constant crying for a couple of hours.

I think it's just the witching hour.... My DD gets cranky at around 2:45 each day.

I don't agree with the term witching hour. Every time someone writes about that it's always late at night and reminds me of my kids - they would get cranky at 6/6:30pm because they were TIRED. Try starting a bedtime routine. If his last bottle is at, say, 8pm, get him ready for bed at 7:30, give him his bottle, rock him and put him down. I bet he will sleep better and longer for you

I agree that there is a a witching hour but this seems like you DS needs to go to bed a little earlier?
How old is he?
I agree with the pp possibly start his bed time routine earlier.
Around 2-3 months when my twins still needed to bed fed at 11 pm we treated their 7/8 pm feeding like bedtime. We gave them a bath, pjs, fed them, swaddled and put them in their cribs or the bouncy if they were fussy and then fed them again at 11 pm and put them right back down.

That's a late bedtime for a 3 month old IMO. He might be overtired.

This happens to us everyday. I'm so tired because of it. It starts at 3:30am & can last until 6:30am & then my 2 year old wakes at 7am so I can't win.

As others have said, its your son's witching hour...pretty normal at that age. You just have to get through it!

ETA: I agree with moving up his bedtime a bit and switching up his routine.

DD used to get like this from 8-10pm. She out grew it thank goodness! Good luck!
