Am I being too sensitive to this comment?

DH and I are househunting . . . still . . . and I just saw a house on our listingbook I was considering trying to see - however, I noticed in the spot where it says "Directions" - the listing agent has it saying something to the effect of:
$99 Tom Tom investment at Radio Shack

This really turned me off. How cavalier and unprofessional! If I were selling this home, I'd be peeved. So, what do you think? I'm just curious to hear how others might react.

I'd be annoyed. Why post a negative comment right in the listing? Why not "off the beaten path", or "away from noisy traffic", etc. Let the potential buyer decide if it's too far from the highway on their own....

If you wanted to still see the house, find out the listing agent's broker and contact the broker and tell him you wanted to see the house, but were turned off by the comment on the listing.

Yes. If you let this comment bother you, its going to be a long road house hunting.

Personally, I hate when realtors put in "see mapquest" or similar comments for directions. I always put in directions from a main road (my office actually mandates it).

While I don't think that's the most professional comment, I wouldn't let it stop you from seeing the house. You are trying to find a house that you will be living in long-term, so even if the realtor is a total idiot and not at all helpful (which might not be the case at all, but I am saying worst case scenario), it wouldn't put me off of the house.

Frankly, there are all sorts of people out there (and I deal with them all!). Sometimes the sellers are horrible to deal with, sometimes it's the realtors, sometimes it's the attorneys -- whatever. I would just do the "will this matter in 10 years test." If you love the house and buy it and are happily living in it 10 years from now, I am 100% sure that you won't care at all that the realtor made a flip comment in the drections portion of the listing.

Hopefully, you are working with a good realtor that can help make the process as stress-free and easy as possible for you. If not, call me! Chat Icon

My original comment was from the point of view of being annoyed at my agent for making that listing. It wouldn't stop me from looking to buy a house, though.

"See mapquest" is lazy. "$99 TomTom investment at Radio Shack" is taking that lazijness & adding an attititude to it!
If I was the seller, I would be annoyed.
As a potential buyer, I'd go.

Re: Am I being too sensitive to this comment?

since listingbook pulls from Stratus that comment is meant for real estate agents not buyers

I find the comment unprofessional to have in a listing- and I would never list a house that way

however- as a realtor you should have navigation- I had to give another agent turn by turn directions to one of my listings on saturday and it was frustrating

ETA- I would find a great buyers agent rather then calling the listing agent directly anyway- let the buyers agent deal with the sellers agent

FM me if you have any questions- I would be happy to help!

I saw that on listing book too!
I thought it was very snarky and unprofessional. If I were the seller they would be hearing from me!
It would have taken the same amount of effort to put a cross street.

But as a buyer if I thought I might like the house I would see it anyway.
