Ask if your hospital has disposable underwear. You shouldn't need to bring your own if they do.

I wouldn't bring a laptop if you have a smartphone. Just no need.

I didn't bring a pillow from home. I know some people do, but I thought it was silly. If you do, make sure it's got a bright color case so it doesn't get mixed up. Same with any towels you bring from home -- bright colors.

They gave me all the sanitary pads I needed while there.

I don't know what a baby face cloth is lol. Nor a newborn-sized dummy. Chat Icon I also wouldn't bring my own formula, bottles, etc.

Other than that, it's a good list. Chat Icon

IMO, you're over packing and are gonna be pissed when you have to pack up to go home.

NB dummy?

I'd 86- baby oil, face cloths, all of the bottle/formula stuff- unless you don't like the hospitals formula, baby wipes, 1-2 sets of pjs, gown, few pair of undies. All unnecessary.

I'd add a pair of flip flops for the shower.

Already mom's...Is this is good hospital list?

Thats a big list...I brought a pack of granny panties, which I didn't wear a pair of those until the day I left I wore the mesh ones while I was in the hospital. I brought 3-4 maternity tank tops 2 pairs of yoga workout pants, slippers, flip flops, overnight pads (used the hospital pads until I got home so I didn't actually need mine) 2 pairs of socks, makeup, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap and a disposable razor

For the baby: I just brought my diaper bag which had all the stuff I needed for him but didn't have to use it b/c the hospital used the diapers I am using and wipes. The only thing I needed for him was his carseat and his take home outfit which I brought a newborn size and a 0-3 month size just in case.

Bring an empty bag with you to bring home all the stuff the nurses give you. I got RTF nursettes, changing pads, receiving blankets, diapers and wipes

Re: Already mom's...Is this is good hospital list?

Lip balm and hair ties were a must for me, not just nice to have.

Give your DH the list of numbers/people to call list. Have the text message list ready too.

I brought chamomile tea bags also. They helped with the gas, and the hospital doesn't always have chamomile.

Bring flip flops for the shower. I had a c-section and they pumped so many fluids in me, my shoes/slippers/flops were too small!

You will get baby wipes, diapers, formula, nursettes (small formula bottles), and pads for yourself. Not all hospitals provide paper panties. I brought cheap granny panties with me.

I also think you are overpacking. You wont be staying there long, especially if you have a vag delivery. If you wind up having a c-section, your stay will be longer, but your DH can always bring you more pajamas as needed.

You do not need to bring the carseat on the first day. Your DH can bring that when he comes to pick you up.

Also, the more you bring/pack, the more you have to lug from delivery to recovery and to your room.

I only had a small bag of magazines, phone, hair ties, etc. for the labor room. I left all else in the car, and my DH brought it to my room after.

ETA: when I took my hospital tour, they actually requested that we packed lightly, especially since you will be wheeled from room to room on a bed, and whatever you pack will go underneath the bed with you.

I was having a scheduled c-section, so I knew I'd be there for several days, but didn't pack all that was on your list. I did however, pack snacks, because I ate them in the middle of the night when I woke to feed my son. Sure I ate dinner, but at 2am when I was wide awake, my tummy was growling.

Re: Already mom's...Is this is good hospital list?

This list is excessive and a little ridiculous.

I don't think you needs snacks and what not unless you want them for DH when you're in labor. From the moment you get to the hospital until you give birth, you can't eat. After that, they feed you!

I don't know anyone who bothers with a long dressing gown anymore. I wore nursing tank tops and stretchy yoga pants the entire stay.

10 pairs of cotton underwear seems like a lot too. lol

I had no desire to shave and didn't need my DVDs.

The only pillow I think is necessary is a boppy or something similar after the baby is born. Notebook? For what? Makeup? YEAH RIGHT! Chat Icon

Baby oil, wipes, face cloths, dummy, formula, bottles, etc on the baby list. Well most of that stuff seems dumb except for maybe the hat, booties, going home outfit. They stay in hospital onesies for the most part during their stay.

Pack light - you don't need that much crap!

Some of the things on your list I didn't have the first time, and missed, and made sure to bring them the next time. Other things I had the first time, didn't need , and didn't bring the second. i think the stuff you need/want may vary person to person, and it's most important to remember that it's a short time--you will be fine of you're missing something. If you pack too much, it's not really a big deal either.

Stuff I had the first time that i didn't need was mostly personal items--make up, a hair dryer, assorted clothes. I thought I'd want to look nice for pics. Nope...I just wanted to hold my baby and stare at her. One pair of slippers/flip flops, two pairs of sweat pants, two nursing tanks or tees, one hoody, lots of granny panties. DH can always bring you more. I used the hospital pads, soaps, etc.

I did miss having a notebook the first time. If you nurse, they ask you to write down your feeding times and how long you nursed for. the first time, i had this on scraps of paper. the second time, i bought a little notebook and saved it as a keepsake.

laptop is good for watching movies/tv shows. I found myself holding my sleeping baby and watching movies and shows during the night with my second.

DH brought me food and drinks as I wanted, but i was never that hungry.

I didn't need anything for labor. first time i packed stuff specifically for labor. I didn't need anything except cameras.

Second time I brought baby wipes because i hate wetting the towels they give you.

Second time I brought a few swaddle mes because they are easier to use than the hospital blanket.

My friend brought me a pillow the first time, and i loved it. much more comfy, and i used it for nursing.

you don't need any clothes for baby except a going home outfit.

For the poster who said she didn't need snacks, I'm SOOOO jealous!!!! I was STARVING the entire time I was at the hospital and they didn't give me anywhere near enough food!!!! I think this time if that happens, I'm going to buzz the nurse and ask for more food. I can't believe how hungry I was and how little they fed me!

Re: Already mom's...Is this is good hospital list?

a 'dummy' is the English word for a pacifier

so this list is probably from the UK Chat Icon

i also think its a little excessive in some of the things listed, but every woman is different in what they feel they must have, and every hospital can be different in what they offer you

i can tell you that i didn't need, nor would i have worn any underwear from home though. Depending on the kind of delivery you have, you could be fairly messy down there and you'll want to wear the mesh underwear the hospital provides you. They also provide you with all the supplies you'll need for that (pads, wipes, ointments etc).
As for anything for the baby while you're there - that's up to you. We just used the white side snap t-shirts that the hospital had and kept him in those while we were there since he was swaddled all the time anyway (again, hospital provides all of that). The only thing we brought for him was a going home outfit.

The list seems a little excessive. Keep in mind that you can always send DH or someone else home to pick up anything you may have forgotten or realize that you need.

For you, I recommend a comfortable outfit for each day you are there, PJ's, a robe or hoodie, chapstick, toiletries, hair rubber band, socks, nursing pads & bras, undies and pads (the hospital does supply them but you may prefer your own). Also, make sure you bring your cell phone, camera, and/or video camera with an empty memory card and all chargers. oh, and flip flops for the shower (I get skeeved out if I share a shower with someone, and I never saw anyone come to clean the shower I shared in my room - GROSS!) Also, I broght some scrapbook paper and a sopy of my baby shower invitation and asked the deliver nurse yo put DD's footprints on them when she was first delivered. And don't forget to bring your insurance cards just in case.

The only thing i needed for DD was a coming home outfit.... the hospital provided everything else (ex: pacifier, comb, nasal aspirator, formula, blanket, side tie tee shirt, cap, diapers, wipes, parts for the breast pump).

I went to the hospital with nothing but the clothes on my back and my cell phone and I was perfectly fine!!!! (I went into labor at a friends house 3 weeks early!) The hospital has EVERYTHING. DH brought my camera the next day.

Maybe in Europe they don't supply baby clothes and pacis or formula either. Sounds like it from the list.
