So, what makes YOU such a good mom?

Since I was feeling so crappy as a mom today, and it seems I'm not alone, I thought we should do a thread about why we think we're good moms. Sometimes I can hone in on the negative, like today, and I need to step back and think about all the good things.

So, what makes YOU a good mom?




For me, I think the fact that I am USUALLY laid back about everything helps me have a pretty laid back little girl.
Also the fact that I sing all day, everyday

DW is a good mom because DC are usually very happy, they are healthy, social, educated, disciplined, and most importantly, loved...

I think I'm a good mom because I hug and kiss my kids everyday and reassure them how much I love them. I also put their needs before anyone else's. And for being a good mom to my 9yr old I coached his soccer team for the fall and brought his 2yr old and 9mo old brothers with me to all practices and games rain or shine since my dh work sched can get a little crazy. I'm a good mom because I try my best every day to make sure that DS is happy and loved.

bc i work my @ss off everyday at work ---and still love spending all my free time hugging, kissing, and even changing poop with my ds

Because I pay attention to her - it's an obvious, but a BIG obvious that I feel was really lacking with my own mother. Every single day I make sure I get down on the floor with her and really focus 100% on her, and engage with her. I know it makes me a good mom because of the beaming smile she gives me every single time when she turns to me and says "I'm happy mommy"

I find everything funny... I am always laughing, and dancing, jumping, saying "yaaaaayyy...."

I am calm and easy going with him - I wish I could be this calm in other areas of my life... everytime I look at him, he can see how overjoyed I am just by looking at him!!!

i am because....

i know what she is wants before she wants it- i know what she thinks before she thinks it...and because of these 2 things, i am allowed to have a very happy daughter, one whose needs are constantly being met...one who doesnt whine or cry or isnt needy and clingy...i know her best, and that makes me the best....

I am on the floor with him, playing and interacting all the time. I try and do activities with him (library group, Little Gym, Barnes N Noble, etc). Im relaxed and *Try* not to stress in front of him.

Julia is my life! I do everything I can to make sure she is happy and loved, she is a very carring and loving child and always wants to make everyone happy, she's so polite and says thankyou all the time. I feel I'm a good mother because I see how happy my beautiful daughter is everyday! My mom always told me, the way you treat your children is the way they will treat others when they are older.

I know I'm a good mom because I do everything I can to make my family (DS, DH and me) happy.

I love how this is supposed to be positive and there is negativity floating around..haha

I think I am a good mom because every single day I wake up and live for my dd.... I work soo hard to make sure she has a beautiful life... I was super selfish before having a child and she has turned my life around...

I think I am a good Mom because I always put their needs before anyones
I care about their education,I let them know how important each one of them are to me as individuals.I am class mom every year (dh is coach to each of the older2 girls)
we are strict and have rules but we also are fun
I think I am a good mom also because I have GREAT kids......aww now I wanna cry

I think I am a good mom because I realize from losing my own mom how precious each and every moment is and I make sure that I appreciate every second that I get with DD even those moments that arent so wonderful. And I want to make sure that DD is always happy! I put her needs above EVERYTHING else!

I think I am a good mom because I would give everything and anything for my son to be happy. I also think I am good mom b/c i put my familiesneeds in front of my own.

um - I'm not sure -

I dont sweat the small stuff and I laugh a lot.
I believe in the power of silly games and hugs and cuddles.
I believe it's important to make time for myself to recharge and relax - whether it's a jog or a bubble bath or a date with dh.
I work really hard and know when to ask for help.
I forgive myself when I mess up.
My child might not get all the material things - but she'll hear me say I love you about 1,000 times a day.

. . . and I married a guy who is an awesome dad. We're a great team and hopefully we can be an example to her.

New mom here, still having some post partum blues and I just don't know yet what makes me a good mom. But I am am confident that some special trait will emerge. The only thing I can think of now is that I am intelligent enough to make good decisions and good judgment calls when it comes to raising him. P.S. I envy the moms who said they are laid back!!!

I think part of my being a good mom is, like Rachel said, being super laid back. Whatever happens will happen.

Not worrying. That makes me a good mother. Worrying makes everyone stressed. The housework can wait, I work 4 days a week and if I am able to be with my boy, you bet your bottom dollar that I ain't going to be doing housework..I also think my work/life balance is great, I love going out to work almost as much as I love being home with the kid!

and being in love with my boys. Both of them...that also helps.

I couldn't list all the things that make me a good mom because I am too lazy...

Well, I'm sure a lot of things make me a bad mom , but here are the good (I think)...

I don't talk to her like she's a baby; people laugh at the vocabulary I use with her (Katherine, anyway)--I like to think this is part of the reason she's so smart!
I sacrificed a HUGE part of my life for them, but I'll never tell them how much.
I (and my DH) read constantly and Kate reads constantly (and we hope Abby too!).
I am VERY affectionate--Kate's probably soon going to say, "Maaaa...get off of me!"
We are always laughing around here.
I tell the girls how beautiful they are about a million times a day.
We have "Dance Party USA" every day!
