Advice on transitioning to one nap

I haven't really even attempted this because Sasha still goes down very easily for her two naps. But they are crappy and are getting crappier!

I mean, I can even put her down at 8 30, and she goes right to sleep... I usually wait til 9, but when she wakes up on the early side as she has been- I do it early cause she's cranky. Her other nap is at 2 usually-- but again with the early wake up time and the sh!tty naps, she has been going down early and taking a 45 min at best nap.

So maybe the solution is one nap... ANYWAYS... how do I do this?

For a baby that *normally* wakes up at 6ish... What's a good time to start to try to push her? And what happens with lunch?

My kids wake between 7:45-8:30. breakfast around 8:30-9. Nap from 11-1-1:30. Lunch about 30 mins after they wake. Dinner at 5:30. Bed between 6:20-7 depending on what we have going on.

When DS gets up at 6:30 he goes down at about 11AM and sleeps until 12:30 or 1 and then has lunch when he gets up. On these days he needs a 30-45min catnap around 4:30.

He usually gets up at 7:30 and then he eats lunch at 11:30 goes down at Noon and sleeps until 2PM

Re: Advice on transitioning to one nap

My DS just went down to 1 nap at 13 months...he wakes up at 6-615 & used to go down at 9. He fights it if you put him down in the a.m. We generally put him down at 12:30-1:30ish (when DD goes down). IF he gets walked in the am, he'll almost always fall asleep in the stroller.

Believe me it is...Chels was always a crappy napper...She goes down to sleep at night around 645 and wakes anywhere between 630-730 on a really good day!!! most days it's closer to the 630 mark

Re: Advice on transitioning to one nap

My boys were napping 10-12 and then 3-5

I finally just forced them to stay up until after lunch (12)

it took a week of crankiness till they adjusted

they now wake at 7 nap 12-3 and back to bed at 7

If you are going to try to skip a nap, I would make it the morning nap. This way, you can run errands, do play dates, etc in the morning with her. When she goes down for her afternoon (now only) nap, that is when you can nap, LIF, prepare dinner, etc.

Re: Advice on transitioning to one nap

ok-- I think I am going to shelve this idea until she starts waking up at her normal time. She has 3 molars coming in right now and was up for the day at 4 30 yesterday (her earliest), but it's been mainly at 5 30.

There is NO way she'll make it til lunch time, and then no way she'll make it to bedtime on one nap either right now.

I hope she gets back to her 6 30 normal time... but I think trying before then won't work. Thanks for the advice though!
