i THINK Ian was about 5-6 months old when we moved him. he was about 18lbs i think. i just couldnt carry him anymore.
im already starting the grieving process of putting the snap and go into storage
I hear you I love the snap and go! I am planning on switching Adam this week. He's going to be 6 months next week and is 18lbs. The infant seat is getting WAY to heavy for me! He also keeps trying to sit upright and cries when we put him in the infant seat so I'm hoping he'll do better in the convertible seat.

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
I just moved dd about a month ago when she was about 8 months and about 20 lbs. Before that for a good month I was just taking dd out of the carseat and leaving it in. It was wayyy to heavy to carry. Love my convertible though. We have the Graco My Ride 65

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
We moved DD to the convertible seat at around 9.5/10 months. For a little while before that though, we weren't schlepping (sp?) the infant carseat around. It would just stay in the car.

Ds is still in his infant seat...He is still comfy and I really hate to get ride of the car seeat that snaps into the stroller. DS falls asleep in the car ALL the time and i would hate to have to take him out of the car seat and put him in the stroller.
Does anyone know how much weight the carseats usuallyhold. I just looked online and DS's travel system says 50lbs, but I dont know if that is just the stroller, I am positive his car seat doesnt hold 50lbs!!
jo, are there still stickers on the carseat or base? Im sure it says. Which carseat?
We have the chicco keyfit 30 and its 30 lbs although im sure he will be out of it well before then!
I am gonna have to look when I pick DS up from daycare. We have the Graco Ben stylus travel system. I looked on babies r us website. DS is only 25 4/4 inches and I feel like he still has decent room and fits in there pretty good.

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
We moved DD last month..at 4 months. She too was about 16 lbs and it was just too heavy for me to carry her in it. We had the Graco Snugride35. I'd stopped taking it out of the car with her in it, unless DH was with me. She got very tired of the snap&go after 3 months, because she prefers sitting up and looking around. plus, we had a spare for the sitter (i don't remember which) and it was smaller and DD was uncomfortable. Since we had the convertible (graco myride) from my shower, we switched DD to the convertible and gave the sitter the snugride. She seems much more confortable in the myride and prefers sitting more upright. She is 19lbs now.

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
we made the switch at 6 months.
he was 21 lbs, 15 ounces and the carseat held up to 22 lbs.
we never took Loey out without the carseat...

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
I used the infant seat (snapping it in and out) until my DD was 8 months old and then we moved her into the convertible carseat.

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
I stopped taking it in and out of the car when they were around 8 months, it was just too heavy to carry the two seats around. We switched to the convertible seats at about 10 months. DC have always been small though. I think weight wise, they could actually still fit in the infant seats at 20.5 months~!

My son is 9 months & 21lbs still fits in the Chicco Keyfit but we have been using it like a convertible since he was 6 months it was getting to heavy to carry.

Re: ? about going from infant seat to convertible
DD was 6 months and 20lbs when we stopped using the carrier for her. I think she was at the height limit but I don't remember how tall she was at the time... maybe 29 inches?
DS is on target to be switched at about the same age, if not sooner. He weighs more than DD did at the same age and I'm 2 years older and can't be lugging this heavy thing in and out of the car all the time.
