My cats are named after wine 
I used to have Chablis, but she passed Nov 29 last year 
I have her twin sister called Bollinger AKA Bolly
And we have Merlot AKA Merlie or the Merlster

I have one dog named Sofie.
I voted that my pets have people names, but we discussed getting another dog and I think we were going to name it a non-people name.

Our dog is Maggie, so a people name. She was almost Shelby or Eleanor (DH is a Mustang guy)
Growing up, my dog's name was Filey, which was a town in Yorkshire, England, and she was a Yorkie. Yes. My parents are BIG dorks!

when i adopted my dog his name was Jumping Jacks so i just shortened it to Jack,
i have had pets with both, i usually name them real names

I name my pets after people....Scout - from To Kill a Mockingbird because it's my favorite book.
We have 2 other cats that were named for us after non-people....Shadow and Merri.
