 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason I do believe in fate, destiny (whatever you want to call it) whether we understand it's motives at the time or not. Every time a situation has occured where I found myself asking "why is this happening?", I've always been able to see the reasoning at some point later on. Stay positive and what you're waiting for will come, in some way, shape, or form.
p.s. Here's some job vibe hugs for you!

 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason This is an interesting debate, when I was in college I took a class totally about free will vs. fate and what the difference is and is free will decided by fate after all?
Anyway. I believe in fate. DH and I talk about this all of the time, his life could have taken a very different course that wouldn't have had us meeting. BUT if that is what we think, then we should believe that we would have met anyway?

There are a lot of ideas in literature that discuss this.

I do believe that if you are positive and surround yourself with positive energy, good things will happen and the same with negativity.

 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason I really, really do.
Some things have happenned to me that were really bad, or seemed really bad, but later I could see how they had to happen to facilitate other things.

Like a big example is I got into a major car accident in colleg,e 2 of them actually and they completely turned my life upside down. I had to quit dance, which was like, the love of my life, I didn't graduate on time at all, but so much has come from that...I found good doctors who have been able to help my mom where other doctors could not. I was still in college for the last year of my program and I was able to be there for my professors and friends in their grieving process. I also grew up a lot in my time off and got so much more out of my "extra" year of college, and I don't think I would have developed so much as a person and as an artists had I just graduated when I was supposed to. So there's something about the unplanned and unexpected that has always had a sepcial pull for me, I just go with it. For no apparent reason I got a letter from a hippie private school offering me a scholarship, I decided to go, I only stayed for a year, but that one year introduced me to my best friend in life, and really shaped who I am as a person. Taking me out of the highly competetive world of the gifted programs I had been in was really good for me. I became SO much more well-rounded, and had I not done that I would not have sought out a similar experience in college and I probably would have gone somewhere else...etc etc..

 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason I believe -for the most part- that things happen for a reason...and that the reason is pretty evident. I do not believe in a higher being puppeteering these events...I believe we/I have more control over my life. I choose to take responsibility and therefore the reasoning can easily be explained. |

 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason We just discussed this at lunch - I do believe in fate and that some things happen or the timing of things happen for a reason, but within that we have choice/control over certain things. |

 | Re: Do you believe....everything happens for a reason This is one of my favorite stories:
Two traveling Angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room.

Instead the Angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older Angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.

When the younger Angel asked why, the older Angel replied..."Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the Angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning, the Angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.

The younger Angel was infuriated and asked the older Angel, "How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him" she accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die."

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older Angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.

"Then last night, as we slept in the farmers bed, the Angel of Death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."

Sometimes this is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later.

So yes, I do believe that everything happens for a reason, even though we may not know it at the time.
